They always say that top teams have a proper “spine”
Fortunately we’ve got the keeper and the striker section and are sadly missing the midfield bit of it.

Many people said quite early in the season that we wouldn’t get promoted with the midfield that we had.
They yet may proved to be wrong, but for too long it’s been the weakest bit of this team.

Disagree. Clayton and our current two CB’s are worthy of any successful team, that’s before you add Critchlow to that list. Adding to that our full backs are above average for this league IMO.

This above list is doing its job as the conceded goals will tell you. Sadly it’s the gel between them and Cook which is where we’ve been inconsistent and thus Cook aside, looked exposed. Walker’s injury and fitness/form since coming back has been below par and there’s been no alternative available/tried. Hughes seems reluctant to play with width despite there been ‘on paper’ options there all season.

For me, the spine isn’t the issue. It’s what supports it is.

That said, we’re still in a good position and there are games left. However frustrating some recent results and performances have been, there is still so much to play for. Managing expectations is tough at our club but as Morais put very well in post match yesterday, we are very much progressing vs LY and still challenging around the top. I’d rather be where we are now rather than looking up from further down relying on others to slip up.

14 wins out of our last 47 games at Valley Parade. I dont hold alot of hope.

Just when you think weve turned a corner a shite side comes to VP and goes home with something.....

    It really is unacceptable.

So you think we can win 7 games, draw 1 and only lose 2 in 10 games.

Fair play on that thought mate.

It's possible but it looks unlikely. We are capable of it though so fingers crossed for a mini purple patch.

Leaving us 4 points clear of you know who.

As long as they only get 12 points in their last 10 games.

It's possible with an "abject failure" as manager.

It has been the story of our season unfortunately.

After a decent performance and a promising away win(s), no matter who we're playing at home I am not expectant of anything positive any more after the way this season has panned out.

TBF we should have taken the 3pts on saturday. Costelleo and Banks to blame. We did enough that 2nd half to score 3 or 4.

    First half was shite.

Banks to blame? Banks who gave the team an energy lift and assisted one of the goals?? In that case you might as well "blame" cook too, as he missed 3 really good chances(!)

    Amazing

Banks was partly to blame because he failed to roll in Cook before fluffing his shot and then missed a golden opportunity to put us ahead. It was a chance he really should have been taking and was easier than all of Costelloes chances who seems to have shouldered much of the blame.

Banks missed a golden oppirtunity to make it 3-2. You cant be hitting it straight at the keeper from 8 yards out. A child would do that.

So yeh, he is partly to blame for a poor finish (and not squaring to Cook earlier).

PS...I remember you having your head in the sand whilst celebrating a point at Walsall and again at Newport. These crap performances will always catch up with us.....and dropping points against shite at home.

Ha ha, I must be off my rocker, but I've got W7 - D2 - L1 (Carlisle) Also others will drop points against rivals.
Crewe, Grimsby, Crawley and Sutton are all winnable, I feel that we can get something from Northampton and beat Leyton Orient at home last match (they'll already be promoted so won't give a chuff)

I can but dream, it's what keeps me something like sane!!!! **so funny

We can win 7. We have shown we are capable. But also shown we are incapable.

    So we wont.

Either you have me mixed up with someone else, or you can remind me of any posts I made about those games which made you think I had my head in the sand??

Absolutely no chance we win seven of our last ten. Zero. Nil. Whatever other way you wanna say it!

we are a safety first side that is tough to break down but we don’t put teams away and are forever liable to getting pegged back by the odd goal.

i don’t think we will lose many - two, maybe three, tops. But we will certainly draw more than we win. I’ll go 3 wins, 5 draws, 2 losses. Hopefully that’s enough to enter the playoff lottery…..

Reviewed the results since you last posted.

My thoughts for the final games remain the same.

    Crewe (A) - Win
    Grimsby (H) - Draw
    Crawley (A) - Win
    Sutton (H) - Win
    Rochdale (A) - Win
    Swindon (A) - Lose
    Gillingham (H) - Draw
    Northampton (A) - Lose
    Orient (H) - Lose

So a total of 75 points. We will end up outside the automatics. But somewhere between 5-7th.

Not playing this weekend might be a help in getting some of our sicknotes back, and still be in the top 7

    BUT, Mansfield are at home tonight(against Grimsby on a downer after FA Cup tie?) and again on Sat;
Stockport and Salford are away and a draw for Stockport plus a Salford win would see City back out of the 7
    Getting interesting now!

Leyton Orient have to play Carlisle (H), Salford (A), Stockport (H), City (A)
Stevenage have to play Salford (H), Northampton (A), Mansfield (A), Swindon (A)
Carlisle have to play Leyton orient (A), Northampton (H), Stockport (H), Salford (H)
Northampton have to play Stevenage (H), Carlisle (A), City (H)
City have to play Swindon (A), Northampton (A), Leyton Orient (H)
Stockport have to play Swindon (A), Salford (H), Carlisle (A), Leyton Orient (A)
Salford to play Stevenage (A), Stockport (A), Leyton Orient (H), Carlisle (A)
    Mansfield - Swindon (A), Stevenage (H)
    Swindon - Stockport (H), Mansfield (H), City (H), Stevenage (H)

There's a lot of points to be dropped by our rivals so if City get their fingers out, we can get into the Play-Off's at the least.
    My thoughts are:-
    Crewe (A) W / Grimsby (H) W / Crawley (A) W / Sutton (H) W / Rochdale (A) W / Swindon (A) D / Gillingham (H) D / Northampton (A) W / Leyton O. (H) W
    84 Points
ps....got to go now as the nurse is coming to give me my meds!!! **so funny**so funny
