He'll be there come Monday, Phil will know the last home game of the season is not all about football.

Only 63 tears, I shed a bucket full at the final whistle ;).

Think it was this thread that mentioned the Carlisle red card for Mellish? A push against Elliott Watt, where Watt rolled around like he'd been taken out by a sniper, holding his face from a shove to the chest.

Yesterday the FA rejected the appeal, so Mellish will be banned for Monday and the 2 play off legs. Might be a boost if we get them?

It was a silly response from Mellish but if the powers that be want to stop this kind of thing (allowing a physical challenge being a good starting point which has at times been refreshing to watch as players roll around and the referee taking no notice) Watts should have at least been a reprimanded, as you say everyone saw Mellish did not touch his face so in reality Watt conned the referee which should IMO be dealt with.

Makes it even weirder when literally the exact same incident occurred the week before with Salfords Louie Barry being the aggressor, but his red was retracted.

But yeah, players will play act all they want as there's no chance of them seeing any discipline for faking how hurt they are/were. Sad part of the game.

Just to add the pictures of that incident the referee was right on the spot so how he didn't send them both off is unreal, you can clearly see Mellish pushes him back on his chest.

This season they seem to have gotten even worse. The consistency especially. Some refs give out yellows early for the softest things, some barely card. The time added on also, some refs will let every kind of time wasting happen and give 4 minutes, some let a game flow and give 8. But having to make big decisions has been so poor, when they've been put on the spot these refs take an eternity and rarely get it right.

Sometimes referees may have to make a call that they have seen through a crowd of players but this referee couldn't be any nearer and saw it all unfold before his eyes 5 yards away, I cant believe it did not get overturned.

Not tempting fate but I have just looked on the EFL website, so I can make plans just in case we get into the playoffs.
The first legs of the semi finals are 7.45pm Saturday 13th and 7pm Sunday 14th, with the second legs the following Saturday and Sunday at 12.30 and 3.00pm. Saturday and Sunday night football, that's feels weird.

Off the top of my head, the last Saturday night match I attended was a long time ago, away at Torquay. I don't think I've ever done a Sunday night match.

It's down to TV, there's often play off matches on weekend late evenings now as Sky want each match at a different slot so they work the play offs around their Premier League selections.

Aye, but come on folks we were playing Salford (BBC) City, the FA couldn't possibly upset those Manchester United Lovely's, Giggs, Butt and Neville and the 17 Salford fans now could they?
To be honest Mellish will be a big miss, those marauding runs from the back line and his unbelievable energy, we'll also be missing Gordon (on loan from Crystal Palace) plus a good number of injuries including our Captain and all round good egg 'Feeney', mind you most will be back for the final.:p

Looking at the video clip I think Carlise are hard done by, the referee should have given Watt the same punishment.

I think Watt should have been given a harsher punishment than Mellish. Not because he’s Elliott Watt but of the 2 identical pushes, only 1 person was rolling round on the floor like he’d been shot. I don’t mind players squaring up to each other (within reason) but this throwing yourself on the floor and rolling around is pathetic and needs eliminating.

@Bluebry@Bluebry - did you ever get to the fighting ock when you lot came down in March?

I'm still waiting for Fordy's post season report on why we finished 8th and why he predicted it
