I remember when Mark Marshall first joined. He barely made an impression for Parky and it was only the following year, when McCall took over and changed our style, that we got the best out of him. Marshall was one of our best players that year we made the playoffs (did he win POY too??).

It goes to show how players can turn it around if you have belief in them....slightly different circumstances here with Reeves because of the 'injury' situation, but wouldn't it be great if he returned in pre-season, trained hard and turned it around like Marshall did.

Nope no one is forgetting about the midfield 3 as they are now known cos you and @Fordy117@Fordy117 continually regurgitate it ad nauseum.

Be that as it may Hopkin (no 's') has been the only Bradford City manager (and there's been a few) that has got us looking anything like half decent and able to string some results together since the beginning of 2018.

Is this the first time we've had two players on our books (Reeves & Robinson) who haven't played for such a long time? As Onside states, we've been extremely tolerant about this - and am worried a bit that we've been put over a barrel in fear of releasing players over "non football matters" (literally!).

Also, I can understand Robinson not being allowed to say anything because of legal matters, but I think if Reeves came out with some information about what is going on, then it would endear himself to the fans a bit more. The total lack of information about both these players, just creates hearsay, gossip and negative vibes.

I think it could be handled better.

How, Onside, Fordy117 and 1 other person like this.

At present he's a Bradford City footballer and like or not, with the lack of information people will speculate.

The rumours may or may not be true but until we've recieved news from the player or the club then they continue to be just that, rumours.

The Tyrell situation is completely different whereby the site owner doesn't want it discussed because of potential legal repercussions.

We've been told it's an injury and then various setbacks from injury. Why wouldn't we then question why he isn't back in the matchday squad yet?

The only time we have lost 4-0 away to Bristol Rovers was in 1994 and I don't think Reeves was playing then. @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart remembers it well as does @Onside@Onside. The Shippers coach nearly hit the corner of the One in a Million school as it slid down the road when picking up at Valley Parade.
I got very wet sat at the end of the gazebo stand.

I'm sure all of that will be playing on his mind and won't be helping his recovery at all if it is a mental health issue. Bowyer and the club seem to be handling the situation very sensitively by not putting any pressure on him for his return but I can only imagine the pressure and anxiety he must be putting on himself. He knows his contract is up next summer and if he doesn't make a come back soon, he's going to be out on a limb in a few months time. Must be very, very hard for the lad.

Do you honestly think that having a bit of money makes any difference to a persons mental health? This forum baffles me at times.

Add to the list of players unlikely to make another City league appearance for various reasons before their contract is up. Doyle, Reeves, Patrick, Robinson, Riley, possibly Gibson.

Does it matter what’s happened to Reeves? It has happened and the chances of him playing for City again are slim, the chances of him making an impact on the success of the season slimmer still. Move on.

    This.
Reeves is a proven player at L1 level. We're in L2. There's no reason why he can't be eased back with us off the bench.
Bowyer has shown so far that he is not one to rush players back prematurely from injury layoffs. He likes to ease them back gradually. From his press comments he clearly rates the player and wants to get him back into first team contention eventually. I would trust him to know when to put Jake on the bench and give him minutes and how best to gradually increase his involvement.
Reeves could be a major asset to us in the second half of the season if his reintroduction is handled well. I'd much rather have him here, where Bowyer can be the judge of what's best, than loaned out to a club where he could be mishandled.

You're correct I'm not taking your replys seriously, that's got to be your best reply as yet.
"Most fitness coaches haven't experienced having to handle a player being out of the game for 20 months!"
Yet you say we should send Jake out on loan to a non-league club, where you're happy to let them do his rehab and get Jake back to match fitness.
I'd suggest we check with the club before we send Jake out on loan that the club have fitness coach's who have experiance of players being out for 20 months..

Good game tonight for me. Recycled the ball well, he it up, picked a pass and hit some quality long balls. If he ca get totally fit and stay that way, hes a L1 player and will be an asset in our promotion push. Good luck to the lad

Another good post until the highlighted, its a forum for different opinions, the silent majority are delighted to have Jake back getting game time.
But before we start getting ahead of ourselves the backroom staff will have to see if there is any reaction to his 60 minutes of action.
In that 60 minutes he showed what an asset he can be when 100% fit.

Just shows what a very good man manager Bowyer is to especially Hopkin who publicly outed certain players.

You might be a tycoon of the business world Fordy, but never get involved in physical training. The LAST thing you do with a long term muscular injury is to throw high volume an high intensity straight at it. And given the role that Bowyer has played in getting him back into a 'good place', the last thing we'd want to do in terms of his well being is show him the door, even temporarily.
