Be that as it may Hopkin (no 's') has been the only Bradford City manager (and there's been a few) that has got us looking anything like half decent and able to string some results together since the beginning of 2018.

 

Doing that for 3 weeks in the middle of a relegation season doesn’t really mean that much...

Wasn't really trying to give him credit. I just thought the slagging he was getting from Reeves' mate was a bit rich.

 

Yeah pretty much. He’s barely kicked a ball in 2 years. Assuming he’s back doing light training (which is what we are being told) you’d think it would take a good few months to get back up to fitness and be anywhere near match fit. So that takes us to Christmas at the earliest I would guess.

Assuming he has no more setbacks he might feature for us in the second half of the season but I just don’t believe it will happen. The nature of L2 and the quality of pitches after Christmas I just can’t see it.

 

It'd be easier to guess if an actual diagnosis had been explained.

Fitness is just half the issue.

Players spend hours in training each week practising and developing their skills and for very good reason. Not doing so for prolonged periods of time will result in an inevitable deterioration of those skills so it's another thing Reeves has to get upto speed with. The pro game is too tough to have a 2 year break from come back and carry on as you were- fit as a fiddle or not.

 

If he plays some part in this season do we think Bowyer will offer him a new contract?

Not a chance. You ain't gonna spend this long out of the game without some reoccurrence when you do eventually/if ever make a comeback.

 

Too early to even consider that but considering he offered Anderson, Devine and Colville new contracts then who knows.

It's a no from me though no matter what. Some times separation and a fresh start elsewhere is best for all parties.

Plus Bowyer might no be manager if he continues like he is doing come the end of the season.
