Not sure when his contract runs out, but I suspect it is at the end of this season. I think he has played 3 months out of his 2/3 year contract. I am not going to speculate what has kept him away from playing for our club, however his only chance of resurrecting his career is to play at some point before the end of season if he intends to continue to be a footballer.

When I managed staff, if anyone was so ill they couldn’t work, HR would become involved. Not sure if City have a HR person, but the time he has been out of the action is extensive and probably wouldn’t be acceptable in the wider community. Come November he will have not played football for 2 years. I realise we don’t know what has gone on, but I do think Bradford City have been extremely tolerant.

Yes, we have been tolerant but they must be reasons to why that's the case.

 

Why would he find another club? Most clubs would want to know why he has been out of action for nearly two years. Regardless of whether they feel compassion for his situation or think he has a lot of bad luck, I am not sure they would be prepared to take that risk of it happening to their club.

 

Because some on here and maybe our club feel that he can get into the squad and that's with 2 years out. So other clubs might feel the same with 2.6 years out.

Yes, clubs will want to know why he hasn't played but that's an easy objective to over come if you can do the talking on the pitch.

 

Is this the first time we've had two players on our books (Reeves & Robinson) who haven't played for such a long time? As Onside states, we've been extremely tolerant about this - and am worried a bit that we've been put over a barrel in fear of releasing players over "non football matters" (literally!).

Also, I can understand Robinson not being allowed to say anything because of legal matters, but I think if Reeves came out with some information about what is going on, then it would endear himself to the fans a bit more. The total lack of information about both these players, just creates hearsay, gossip and negative vibes.

I think it could be handled better.

 

When, or if, the information comes out about Jake, I think people would be abit more understanding.

You know and I know unfortunately football fans don't work like that now a days. Players can't even miss penalties without getting abuse which is just wrong.

Football fans see it as not played for 2 years. Can't get away from that and will compare situations like David Silva kid had issues but he still played for his team.

It's a tough one but it's the time that's the issue really and the same applies to the Robinson situation by the way. Time! Fans are not stupid and dont like silence.

 

As a fellow human being I have compassion and empathy for anyone who has suffered loss, and or is suffering depression. Nevertheless your employer is a different entity but should offer reasonable resources to help and support you including time off. However, there must be timescales involved otherwise the situation drifts on indefinitely. They key word here is what is reasonable? Obviously we don’t know what has happened and tbh I have no real desire to know the ins and outs, we just need to know If he is going to play for City again, and I don’t think that is unreasonable for fans to ask.

The club may not know, if that is the case then they could seek professional opinion, it just appears that the situation with Jake is that it has been allowed to drift.

Interesting reading Exeter's statement about Jonathan Forte's retirement from the game due to a knee injury. They say fans had been asking all over the summer what was going on with him but they couldn't release a statement because the club were in negotiations with him. Maybe why City can't release a statement about Reeves?

No, it's not about me but ask yourself this would you be given 2 years not to really do what you're paid to do?

As @Onside has well written they has to be a cut of point. The situation has drifted to a point of even if makes a return now it won't be until Xmas/new year that you can really get 90 mins from him then you have to hope no serious injuries are picked up because that tends to happen when out of sport for a long period by the time he's fully back he has 6 months left on contract and can walk away on a free.

For those who regularly watch training, out of interest has he been involved at anytime?

 

Sooner he is out the club the better . Complete waste of money
