He was injured, then out for a while and he is training- he will be getting paid.

 

When I used to work as an insurance underwriter, we looked into the possibility of insuring footballers if they had been injured for a period of time - 3 months, 6 months etc to replace their lost income. This was the footballers seeking their own insurance, not the clubs.

It was deemed too risky and to create too big a liability. Only way we could do it was if they were unable to do any occupation at all which basically meant if they could walk unaided for 200 metres and get dressed themselves we wouldn't pay out (a bit more complex than that, but that is the gist).

Admittedly it is going back quite a while and things may have changed, but I don't believe all income of footballers will be guaranteed if they are injured. They earn a lot of money, relatively, and their risk of claiming is so much higher than most other occupations. Let alone defining what is 'injured' versus a loss of form, a manager not liking a player.

This is different to the insurance that exists if any injury ends a career, and player/club receives a payout conditional on no longer earning money from playing football again in the future.

 

Don't know about anyone else but I feel uneasy discussing another person's personal issues on a public forum.

If we can't discuss Tyrell then we sure shouldn't be discussing Jake, given what the rumoured reasons are.

 

At present he's a Bradford City footballer and like or not, with the lack of information people will speculate.

The rumours may or may not be true but until we've recieved news from the player or the club then they continue to be just that, rumours.

The Tyrell situation is completely different whereby the site owner doesn't want it discussed because of potential legal repercussions.

 

I'd agree with this if we knew there were some personal issues. I think most of us understand the Tyrell situation and I don't see why Reeves wouldn't be shown the same respect if it were called for. The situation as it stands is perplexing and is bound to attract speculation and rumour.

 

The only time I was a Reeves fan was when he signed for us, given his pedigree and also the displays he put in during the pre-season games, but went right off him like a lot of our fans did (prior to any inkling regarding injury etc)

Some time ago, I saw someone on social media state that Reeves was very ‘vulnerable’, but the post was prompty removed

If there is any truth in that whatsoever, then it is literally a different ball game and I have the utmost sympathy for the guy, as he must've been in an extremely dark place

 

As I've previously said, when/IF the issues come out, and it's a big IF, then people would be alot more understanding, and anyone who has shamed him will be ashamed, take my word for it. I know Jake and some of the stuff been said on here about him has been discussing.

I think it's pretty obvious that when somebody hasn't been able to do their job for circa 2 years with no information released to the public then it's almost certainly a personal issue which is the cause.

It's not doing anybody any favours speculating about somebody's personal issues and quite frankly there is no need to continue to do so 2 years down the line.

All this "I know Jake" so you should stop discussing it bollocks and then hinting at his issues is only fanning the flames for discussion so if you really want it to stop how about you stop replying?

 

We've been told it's an injury and then various setbacks from injury. Why wouldn't we then question why he isn't back in the matchday squad yet?

I've never said people should stop discussing it, people are at their free will to talk about what they want, just be considerate sometimes and dont say things like 'he should never play for us again' 'he's stealing a wage' etc. I'm not fanning anything, just telling people to be abit more considerate sometimes.

 

Those examples aren't disgusting though.

They're hardly personal attacks, just people losing patience with a situation that, in all honesty, cannot NOT test people's patience.

If the worst outburst is 'he is stealing a wage', them frankly there's nothing for you to be outraged about.
