Reeves will continue rehab programme through break

    Alcohol or Drug ?

It would be nice to hear from the man himself to clarify exactly what’s wrong with him.
The lack of info leaves a void for the rumour committee to fill.

If we can get the Reeves of the first 6 months, he’ll be a big player for us.

Yes, if we can get him free of injury and his head right, he should be a very good player for the 4th tier.

    Good luck to him

'Your mates are there, when you need them most'. .......... I hope the City players, old and new, will rally round and support Jake in any way they can. Let's get this new squad uniting and bonding from the off !! :)

Just my interpretation here... but i'm not sure the rehabilitation programme is for anything more than injury. A series of setbacks could simply mean on a physical level, his body not responding to the physio like hed hoped, or one problem leading to another.

If the rehabilitation is to be taken in the context of tackling a drug, alcohol or gambling habit, I'd be suprised but hope he can get sorted over the summer, whatever the issue is, as I think he has the ability to do it in L2

He could be an asset in league 2, that is if he ever gets back on the field. I hope the lad manages to get some game time but one things for sure, we can't afford to be carrying passengers this season. If he can't get physically sorted soon i can't see any way back for him in football, no one would be daft enough to take the risk.

the club and medical staff have to abide by confidentiality law, they can’t disclose any medical records or medical information without player consent. if jake reeves doesn’t want his confidential medical records in the open and in the media then that’s his right and prerogative - people just need to get over their need to know everything about everything and accept it.

He’s in working with the physio don’t think the physio is qualified to help him with drink or drug addiction

For sure. Constant niggles and setbacks can do awful things ....... Depression being quite a common one ........

Quite right. Although it might be a point of consideration for Jake, if he comes back, for the club to disclose whether his absence has been more than just injury related. Without disclosing details, if fans were made to know that he's been through a tough personal time and had demons to battle then they might be more patient and supportive of his comeback. It could help him.

In football terms I'm not too bothered either way. I never particularly rated him.

If he can get back fit and playing then he could be one of the central midfielders sorted for next season without forking our for someone else. Spend that money elsewhere.

I think it’s clear it’s mental for him. Not sure it’s as sinister as drugs or alcohol. Heard before under Rahic he was being told he has to play as we had spent money on him and we didn’t want him sat about. Thus reeves downed tools a bit as he didn’t feel ready. Now Rahic has gone hopefully he feels he can play for us again

I wish they'd tell us what the problem is - if its purely a physical injury that won't heal he should retire or we should rip his contract up and pay him off, or something.

he might get more patience and under standing if we know whats going on.

I'd be suprised if its a football injury, and if not then I can understand why it has been keep in house.
He is employed by Bradford City and they have a legal responsibility to protect the player and whatever is keeping the lad from playing football.
Put yourself in his and the clubs position, would you be happy for your employer to make everyone at your place of work knowing what's keeping you from attending and doing your job, the situation is frustrating for all concerned Jake, the club and the fans.

You would have thought that if it was a physical injury then they would have written his contract off or retired him, the reason this hasn't been done makes me think its a more psychological.

We can't count on him next season no matter what.

He's missed far far too much football now. Over a year and half nearly.

He has a year left on his contract. Bradford City for HR reasons have to step carefully but I would rip his contract up and pay him off.

By averages and the sheer number of professional footballers there must be many out there suffering from depression and other related illnesses.

I recall the heathen muppet's from east of Pudsey in the old Bradford end when Collymore was turning out for us.
On the back of media reports about SC's depression they were all chanting repetitively " Stanleys going mad, he's going mad, Stanley's going mad"
Then he smashed in the overhead kick, and went up to them all with his hands under his armpits mimicking a monkey.
The Monkeys were half crazed hahaha a beautiful moment.

Side note : He had Woodgate in his pocket that evening, in one of the finest centre forward displays I've seen in a City shirt.
If only he could have produced that regularly, he could have been Sheareresque !

Tentative good news. No doubt a fit and firing Reeves would be an asset in L1, never mind L2

    Could be depression.
My (Estonian) football league career was ended by two groin injuries. The first I had an operation and was out for around five months. Two games back, it tore again. Really depressed me and struggled to get motivated. Horrible injury as for a while you’ve got your leg stuck out in front of you and can’t do much (ask my Mrs!).
Hope he’s getting his head back together. I played a friendly game in October and my mind was constantly on the muscle tearing. Next morning I felt it was gonna ping any minute, so decided that was that.
Good luck to him on his comeback!
