Bottom line, hes been out 2 years. No way is he coming back as a player who'll offer anything of value. It's too long to miss.

A waste of resources? If we have to pay him anyway, he's hardly taking much in the way of resources on top of that. I don't understand why you think him being around the squad and trying to get fit to play again is such a big deal.
It's not like he's being disruptive. Bowyer has said that he's good to have around. So what's the problem? If he gets fit and plays again for us then that's a highly unexpected bonus. If he doesn't, his contract expires next June and we say goodbye and good luck. I just don't get what's so wrong with that. Why do you need to be so vindictive towards someone who is clearly struggling, for whatever reason, to get his career back on track?

And why should they? If Reeves wants to keep his personal medical situation to himself which is his right like any other person

Only Bradford City fans would be happy for a player, who supposedly picked up a minor groin injury 2 years ago, continue to be under our employ despite not playing one solitary minute of football since.

bantams family isn't it. we might aswell see if Micah Richards fancies a 3 year deal aswell.

He's out training most days, getting involved in the ball work, team work, tactical work, looked promising when I've seen him and spoke to him. As I've said many a time, no point rushing him back, but his progress is coming along nicely.

The best way to deal with, whispers-innuendo-rumours-exaggerations-distortion-paranoia-‘Project Fear’, is with simple straightforward unequivocal explanations!

Secrecy, obfuscation, avoidance, and ignoring the issue is likely to alienate supporters.

An example is when I take my car to JCT, as a paying customer l am given a full breakdown of the work undertaken and the prognosis for the future.

I guess as a paying customer of Bradford City, then within reason, I expect to be informed about things which may impact on the product which l am investing in both financially and emotionally.

Transparency, engagement, working in ‘partnership’ are more likely to engender sympathy, understanding, patience. It really is relatively straightforward. I may not have a finance background, but have some skills and knowledge about ‘getting people on board’.

Am so pleased for Jake that his name has been listed. Gutted I'm not there to cheer him on.
Come on Bradford fans give him a right good back if he comes on!
    Good luck Reevesy!

Don't want to tempt fate but Reeves looks a level above here in the first half.

Shame about the rest of them. You shouldn't look the best player in the team after being out for so long. Same fringe players of ours still look crap.

I think it was @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler who said the German fitness coach Rahic brought in Robett Lossau had Jake doing stuff that was detrimental to the injury he had, and instead of his injury being nursed back as Bowyer and his team are doing Lossau actually made his injury worse hence the time its taken him to get back.
Total faith in Bowyer and his backroon team, he realises bringing injured players back too soon could be detremenatal to not only the player but the club.

We received clarification on Reeves' situation which the pair of you have seemingly missed. According to Roger Owen, he was made to do intense training whilst still carrying a knock which made the issue 10 times worse and played a big role in his prolonged absence.

In addition to this Bowyer has clearly managed him very astutely. He was made to follow a specialised fitness programme over the summer, has been given lots of encouragement in the press and above all, his progress has been monitored intently which has allowed us to get him into a position where he can finally play football again. In comparison, if you read Hopkin's comments in the press he had absolutely no idea what was going on with him some 12 months after his absence which is not only bad management but complete disregard for a player who deserved better.

    He owes us nothing.

Hi Fordy. You are on form mate. You certainly don't bottle it or for that matter bottle it up.
i went last night and unless we have been conned regarding Reeves these last 22 months I think we ought to give Gary Bowyer some credit for getting him back out on the pitch.
i was surprised that he started the game and I think it was a very smart move making him skipper. That meant it would hard for Reeves to come off with a slight niggle.
Regardless of the opposition and the competition what impressed me about his performance was how he approached it. He worked very hard all over the pitch, was very vocal, especially driving City forward telling them to play further up the pitch and not sit in our own half. His first touch and passing was also good. And although it was probably sensible to bring him off after an hour he looked like he could have done the full 90 mins. Early days I know but his involvement from now will depend on how his body reacts after such a long layoff.
He also looked like he was enjoying himself. I'm not getting too carried away but if his body reacts okay he will be like a new signing because I for one had written him off.

Which part of the club do you think isn’t being run to a required standard now? I get that things could always improve, that could be said of any club, but which part of Bowyers man management of Reeves are you not happy with? Even the player himself has sung his praises this morning in the T & A.

Baffling recovery tactics wanting him kicked up and down the field for 90 minutes. I don't get where the benefits are? Coming from personal experience from serious knee injuries which I had to give up football at 24/25. Having pub players lunging in at you left right and centre is not really the best recovery process. Literally sending him onto a minefield. Will have much more chance of a full recovery with a staggered introduction back to high intensity football.

All depends on context. Players will see through frauds quickly. If you’re just ranting and being a c**t, that’ll prove divisive, dead quick. If you’re tough, demanding, but fair and transparent - I think thats what players want.

Klopp, Guardiola. I bet they can strip paint with the best of em. But they know what they’re doing. Their players would run through brick walls, as players would for the likes of Clough and Ferguson, and Mourinho in his earlier days.

Man Management, in any industry, is an art.

Good luck Jake Reeves on his first start in a very long time. Hope you reward the fans patience with an outstanding display. You deserve it.

Probably the best player on the pitch for us, knowing Reeves personally it has been such a huge battle for him, but without Bowyers support he wouldnt of been where he is today.

Showed some good through balls - same we couldnt get on the end of the them, or make them count when we did.
Alot of collecting the ball from the back four, but then ultimately usually a sideways pass to the full backs, due to the lack of movement in front of him.

If he can get back fit and playing then he could be one of the central midfielders sorted for next season without forking our for someone else. Spend that money elsewhere.

I think it’s clear it’s mental for him. Not sure it’s as sinister as drugs or alcohol. Heard before under Rahic he was being told he has to play as we had spent money on him and we didn’t want him sat about. Thus reeves downed tools a bit as he didn’t feel ready. Now Rahic has gone hopefully he feels he can play for us again

Tentative good news. No doubt a fit and firing Reeves would be an asset in L1, never mind L2
