we were better staying in. People always bleat on about "take back control" but from what?? any 'law' given to us we could veto and had nothing ever 'forced on us'. just successive goverments making the EU the scapegoats for migration. Thats it. shock migrants are still coming over. also huge shock that 50% of migrants are not in the EU regardless and we could have closed the borders to them but we wouldn't... because it really wasnt a problem.

    I agree with the gentleman.

"And in respect of these legally binding decisions, there is even less of a role for the UK parliament than there was with EU legislation. Before departure, legislation implementing EU directives had to go through the UK parliament, either as statutes or statutory instruments. Now, the UK parliament only has the right to be “informed” of the decisions. This is no doubt partly because the UK wants the same limited role for the European parliament, and one legislature could not be included without the other. But the agreement provides no substance for the claim that the UK parliament is “taking back control”."

What about the not so young staff behind the scenes or in the management team?

I don't disagree with you Fordy. The issue is that only true lockdown "works" when we're judging success or failure in the way we are.

I'd be all over any other sort of logical alternative but we're 9 months into this and I've seen no other plans put forward that are logical.

If you've got one then I'm all ears but as usual I think you'll be pretty good at pointing out the obvious issues but less forthcoming about the better solutions.

The political world is far too tribal for that these days, Corbynistas will accept no criticism of the man and so on. Trump is like a cult and so is Johnson. What will happen is there will be more and more lies to cover up the lies told in the past.

Oh I am living in the real world and I see whats happening.

My mum has a nurse and as is my aunty. My dad was a doctor. I know all about the medical world. This putting over 70's before others is nonsense. It's never been a case of saving the aged.

However, that's not my issue. It's just that no alternatives have been suggested and we we are getting to a point in which we are damaging the next and the generation after that.

Oh, its a tough but we didn't do it right in this country, so lets not start making out that this problem was found yesterday.

I hope you're living in your bubble! Not going out, not seeing anyone! Setting the example.

Let's be honest the only reason why football started up again was the pressure from the Premier League and Sky.

Why should football be any different from other businesses?

Oh, I'll give you an alternative, hands, face, space.

Quite simply, if the basic rules (masks, 2 metre social distancing etc.) had been properly followed/enforced we would not be in the situation we are now. Our government can take a lot of the responsibility for that, but so can a large proportion of the public who have failed to even keep close to the basic rules (and I know other countries have had the same issue with the public). To quote from the film 'V for Vendetta':
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

The trouble is that the population of the UK is huge, @Asafa@Asafa was wrong, it is now in excess of 68,000,000, so 10% larger. The vaccine needs to be administered in two doses, which stretches out the whole process. The ability to dispense it, requires a very large number of qualified staff and a massive logistical exercise to ensure that everyone has been offered the vaccine in a timely and methodical manner. The whole process will mean ensuring that the clinical setting, will have to be hygienic to the requisite level and as such may limit the number which can be dispensed per day. Yes different vaccines may well become available, but the process of manufacturing (is there sufficient spare pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity) and distributing them will still take time.
The whole process is unpredictable in respect of a timescale. Hopefully it will be undertaken swiftly, but realistically don’t get your hopes up unduly.

I think they have already manufactured a large amount and I think they are talking about just giving one vaccination now at least initially

I'm not sure the one jab thing has been seriously put forward. I think it was advocated by Tony Blair but I'm not sure of his expertise in disease control.

If people want to see when they should expect to get the vaccine try this.

    https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk

mine comes out between June and September.
