Football should be stopped along with the rest of the country.

If we’re serious about this third and final lockdown being meaningful then FFS everybody has to be on board.

The Chinese, the New Zealander’s, and whoever else have got it right, why do we not learn?

No wonder footballers feel as though they can do whatever the heck they want.

I wonder how those involved actually feel? Not just the players, but the support staff and those needed to ensure games can be played.

Isn't that what the furlough system is for ?

The furlough system is there to try and protect jobs. Maybe i wasn't clear - what I mean is, I wonder how those in the game feel about being 'forced' to continue working at a time whereby the virus is apparently out of control. We're talking about people with families, who may be worried for their own safety.

Footballers at our level are now to be regularly tested. If your worried how footballers feel about having to play what about supermarket workers. Every time I go in now there is some d**khead customer refusing to wear a mask and they aren’t the type who seem to have health issues. The idiots I see are young lads yapping on their phone not giving a damn about anyone else. Football is fairly safe for the players compared to supermarket staff.

Should football continue, very difficult question to answer and not as cut and dry as it seems. Sport in general certainly from a personal point of view has benefits on mental health, for me it comes down to can those in the game(not just the players) be kept safe. I’d imagine some background staff will be able to work from home still, then it comes down to those who need to be there on a match day such as stewards, I’d look at looking at how you can have as few there as possible with the correct PPE and make sure social distance is adhered to, that includes managers who seem to not bother anymore and go around shaking hands again. If sport shuts again clubs will go bust and jobs will be lost, furlough won’t stop that long term and this lockdown will go into March imo so the season would be near impossible to finish. For me find a way to put it on as long as it’s safe and football itself pays for it.

Ignoring the debate on what should be happening with football, it seems that we are heading for a very similar scenario to last season, although this time it looks like Leagues One and Two, plus the National League (including North and South) will complete their fixtures.

So, a repeat of last season seems to be the likely outcome; promotion and relegation for the top 5 divisions, with National Leagues North and South (division 6) promoting clubs but not relegating anybody. From division 7 (Northern Premier League etc.) downwards, season abandoned and records expunged.

The needle returns to the start of the song,
And we all sing along like before.

Good point. Its probably a bit late in the day now, but whilst there's obviously a need for people to be able to shop for essentials and food, I wonder whether a system of 'rationing' when people are allowed to shop for groceries. A kind of 'once a week only' per household. The aim being to minimise the amount of time spent in public areas per household.

You’ll be right. Coppers are only picking on kids and old people sitting on benches or stopping to talk to each other. A hairy arsed 18 stone tradesman is too confrontational for them.

Scottish Championship clubs are voting this weekend to curtail their league too. Scottish Cup already gone. Looks like come Monday there’ll only be the SPL remaining.
