I had to go for a COVID test on 27th Dec, at Bradford University. I was taken aback by the number of volunteers giving up their time and the empathy and warmth of the staff really put me at ease. Whilst many aspects of how this pandemic have been approached are rightly deserving of criticism, those working in and in support of the NHS deserve every bit of acclaim and gratitude we can bestow.

The reason why we ALL do this is because if the hospital are full what would you do if you had a broken arm? A stroke or a heart attack? You'd die. People fail to realise this is for everyones direct benefit.
Plus other cheaper more easily manufactured vaccines will become available soon so expect daily vaccinations to increase tenfold.
If we get through to march and no postponement of the football we will be alright.
And lastly lets stop being selfish. Its crap for everyone but lets not sacrifice our grandparents for freedom 3 months early.Meltham Massive, Inspector, How and 7 others like this. -

you suggest just protecting the vulnerable. what do those NHS staff that are vulnerable do? how do trusts replace them? because there are a lot of them. me included. then there are those that work in social care, what about those people? teachers and other key workers who fall into your vulnerable category? actually, not just vulnerable key workers but vulnerable workers in general? it's not as simplistic as you seen to think.
and as for your 'payment' suggestion - let's just leave that there.Meltham Massive, How, bantamlad92 and 6 others like this. -

A hospital full of Covid patients means other non Covid patients aren’t getting treated. An ICU bed with a Covid patient needs 7 nurses, a normal bed about two or three. By having hospitals full of Covid patients whether they survive or not ties up resources badly needed elsewhere, such as cancer.
Therefore stopping people getting Covid, and stopping people being hospitalised with it help non Covid clinics. Nurses, doctors and consultants I know personally and professionally over nearly 20 years in the healthcare industry are terrified of their hospitals being overwhelmed. They all say it’s not about the healthy under 40s being hospitalised, we tend to survive without intensive care, it’s that group transmitting it at home and work to older people who end up in ICU.
Arguing with Covid non believers, anti vaxxers and brexiteers is pointless.Meltham Massive, How, Petrov and 4 others like this. -

Footballers at our level are now to be regularly tested. If your worried how footballers feel about having to play what about supermarket workers. Every time I go in now there is some d**khead customer refusing to wear a mask and they aren’t the type who seem to have health issues. The idiots I see are young lads yapping on their phone not giving a damn about anyone else. Football is fairly safe for the players compared to supermarket staff.

I googled Tier 5 and since it doesn't exist, there isn't an explanation of what it would entail.
But the idea that young, fit footballers who are not in any way vulnerable to Covid would have to stop playing professional games is the stupidest idea I've ever heard.Bumblebee_Tuna, The Evidence, shoatsy and 3 others like this. -
or you have them turn up to an outpatient appointment whilst they are awaiting a result from a test having had to take one due to exposure and claim "I didn't know I should be isolating" whilst placing every single member of staff they come across at risk. -
much like it's not the vaccine which saves lives but the uptake of vaccinations.
whilst you've got people ignoring rules, guidance, not isolating when having to and saying they're not having the vaccine it will take longer to get through this.Bantamsteve, Rogered Tart, Bronco and 3 others like this. -
I see Fat Sam wants a 2 week break,im sure it's nothing to do with Covid,it's more likely to be the Ian Holloway syndrome,ie,his teams shit and he needs to strengthen,he said he's 66 and doesn't want to catch it.Well he shoulda stayed home then, surely he's not skint

You'd have thought that the same person who's a member of the Jockey Club responsible amongst other things for the Cheltenham Festival and who gave the go-ahead just as lockdown was starting, resullting in a spike of Covid cases, would have ruled herself out of the running for anything to do with the nation's well-being. I suppose being a Tory Baroness would overrule all of that! -

It doesn't work like that Park. All the trials and testing are based upon 2 jabs weeks apart.
You can't just give a jab out in January and then one 6 months later. It renders the whole vaccination fruitlessBantamsteve, Fordy117, Bronco and 2 others like this.
