Possibility of football stopping (again)

Over 600,000 have had the first injection (1% of the population). These are the most vulnerable and they should already have some degree of immunity. Considering that this demographic accounts for the majority of hospitalisations, should we not expect the number of serious cases to start dropping in a couple of weeks?

Is there anything stopping the private sector procuring the vaccine? As far as I can tell they would just need to do a deal with the manufacturers (although supply might be an issue). There are a lot of wealthy people out there wanting to pay to jump the queue and I'd expect footballers would be amongst them

 

There are nearly 9 million people over 70, add in those under 70 with co-morbidities who take priority and it’s going to take a while to get through all of them.

 

I think various governments have pre-bought so many of the vaccines that there's unlikely to be many available privately for quite some time.

The PR of a football club effectively jumping in and delaying the vaccination of the vulnerable would be suicidal anyway.

 

Postponements starting to rack up won't belong before the football authorities have to do something about the season before it becomes farcical beyond repair.
Throwing money at it won't make this terrible pandemic go away fact

Government will have to give clubs money. Football has contracts the reason last season couldn't end was because of tv contacts etc.

 

That will go over most fans under the age of 60 heads!

 

I googled Tier 5 and since it doesn't exist, there isn't an explanation of what it would entail.

But the idea that young, fit footballers who are not in any way vulnerable to Covid would have to stop playing professional games is the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

 

Think many want Helen Mirren and she is about 75.

Every age group someone dies from the flu.

The facts are mainly the over 70's are dying from this.

The number of Covid-related deaths in England involving individuals under the age of 60 and free from a pre-existing condition is 377. This is for the entire period of the pandemic.
