Me neither. GA said on Thursday that we have a good idea about what other teams budgets are going to be so this idea that it's a closely guarded secret how much each club has available to spend is pretty much nonsense.

As you know I was reluctant to buy a ST this season due to the dire way our club is being run. However, what Rupp said and the appointment of Sharpe we ended up giving in. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. My misgivings like yours have not disappeared. We shall have to wait and see what happens but so far we as a club have done nothing to earn this high level of loyalty.

Odd they weren’t “well run” for over 15 years and indeed a laughing stock until Hollywood took over and money flows like water. That’s the point some are missing RT?
Non of it can be done without investment both of which County and Wrexham have spent way beyond their “ footballing “ income , yet that’s all we have..Odd we weren’t a badly run club when we were doing well on the grass ?
Let’s hope our owner has seen the light and using the same criteria we can turn money into success. Somehow I am yet to be convinced.

Can't disagree with that Kev. A go forward plan pretty much always includes a structure of financial investment, sometimes small, sometimes like Stockport and Wrexham it's on the larger scale. Even Barrow, who I would expect most to see as club punching above their weight, have intact spent to a point what some would see as beyond what they can make on the pitch. Some, and quite a few on here, shudder at the sound of debt and it conjures up to them scenes of admin due to us being there twice. Truth is we have no idea of the long term financial plans of the likes of Stockport, Wrexham etc. What I do know is you could talk the best business plans in the world, if you ain't got finance backing those plans you pretty much pissing in the wind.
Rupp has alluded to that in his statement, the fixation with sustainability in the short term effectively sees you stand still and eventually go backwards, kinda like our public services right now but that's for another thread.
Hence now an alleged more proactive approach to risk/reward by bringing in David Sharpe. Only time will tell how committed Rupp is, if you go at it half hearted it will only flatter to deceive.

I'm not one to beat the 'big budget' drum, but given what Rupp has said and the situation we are in this season, I fully expect serious investment from Stefan.

We're on a promise, no Stefan has not been at all reliable or true to his word, but a statement is a statement: Rupp will invest and give us a much better chance, or there'll be hell to pay as they say.

Yes totally agree JB. He has to prove the voracity of his letter otherwise it’s curtains until “a” sale, 100%.

GA has said retain list will be done this week.

Hendrie, Cousin-Dawson, Ridehalgh, Stubbs, Chapman, Derbyshire will all be let go.

I think we trigger 1 year options on Halliday, Smallwood, Walker and Pointon - with Halliday and Pointon also offered new contracts.

Doyle and Platt will be offered new deals.

Odusina, Taylor, McDonald and Oliver will be told to find new clubs.

Cant really comment on Richardson, Rowe, Wadsworth, Jeffreys and Youmbi. Hope 2 or 3 extend their stay though.

Of the young players I think Richardson will be released as we'll have Zac Hadi coming in from the u19s although he was going around the pitch after the match with a brace on his knee which probably explains why we recalled Richardson. As long as it's not a 12 month type job for Hadi I think we'll let Richardson go.
I think Wadsworth will get another 1 year with a view to seeing if he can make a breakthrough similar to how Pointon has.
The other 3 I'd expect we'll release. Rowe won't get any minutes at RWB, not sure how he did at Farsley. Youmbi didn't do anything of note at Farsley and barely featured for Scunthorpe.
Jeffreys doesn't seem to have had a great loan at Elgin, struggled to get in the team at the start with 3 sub appearances in his first 5 games then got 3 starts scoring 1 goal but then got a hamstring injury which has kept him out. He had injury issues which reportedly ended Premier League interest in him so got to be a concern over him.

I think on the released list there will be Hendrie, Cousin-Dawson, Rowe, Youmb, Ridehalgh and Platt.
I think we will (or should) offer new contracts to Halliday, Pointon, Walker, Stubbs, Smallwood and Walker.
We will or should try and offload Oliver and Derbyshire (not sure how long Derbyshire is contracted for).
McDonald is tricky one. When he plays he is good but not fit enough often enough. Back up?
I know others will want to keep Platt but I don't think he is good enough. Stubbs is slow but reads the game better and can pass the ball better
As for the loan players, who knows?

I would keep Platt over Stubbs, the rest I agree with.

That said I still think we need a couple of central defenders to improve us in that department.

Doubt it will happen, but would like to see Oyegoke sign. Since he came back after injury and playing in a 3 at the back, he has looked very impressive to me

To be fair he has been injured since then but even before that, he hadn't been first choice in the back 3 for some time.

And when I look back now
Those 18 months seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
I'd I've said no, no never
Those were the worst days of my life

As I posted on another thread. It may be Derbyshire is now a coach unofficially. He was in the video with the young lad at Apperley Bridge in the coaches room . He had his own desk and laptop from memory. So he will be off the squad list.

I agree re Platt but keep Stubbs (as back up) and Kelly but we can do better. ( Oggy!)
One real dominant centre half ( Like Flint type player) plus Kelly and Oggy would do me as the go to back three.

They will be ball park guesses based on multiple scenarios for every club. It’s not difficult to work out however the unknown is the owner ‘s investment , Colchester BCAFC or level of acceptable debt ie Port Vale as an example .

Hughes probably insisted on it. Sparks did say MH forced the issues on some deals above the budget. I bet he was one.
