Stockport owners have taken them from National league north to league one with ongoing restructure plans of their stadium and area around the ground. Wrexham have taken a club from 18 years in the national league to league one. Can't really argue that they are well run clubs right now.

So back to leadership, or lack of it, that is the one reason alone why Smallwood has to go. Replace him with a leader and we are already better off on the field. A few more tweaks along those lines and we probably aren't actually too far off if we can keep the 7 or so mentioned core players

What's the Accrington Stanley chairman insinuating here ?

    **EDIT**
Didn't realise he'd had a loan spell with them, earlier in his career

How? It’s no coincidence that all the three clubs named have spent vastly higher sums than us ? .
But seeming its not relevant . ?

The noises coming out of VP right now remind me of why I chose not to renew my season ticket end of last season, pretty much everything I'm reading sounds far from great. First on the list which pretty much nails my decision is that we trying to get Odeyoke for next season!!! Seriously I give up...Then we hear GA doesn't know next seasons budget until figure of STs is in??..I thought SR had publicly said he's basically going to step up?? In which case ST sales would be irrelevant.

There was no mention of Sharpe at all in GA's press conference, not even when talking about a meeting they had to discuss players for next season.....

This. We are definitely getting mixed messages about the budget. Remember, the reason we were told Ryan felt he needed to fly out to Germany was because he had concerns about the budget for next year, which in itself doesn't make sense when Rupp had just been over for an 8 hour meeting about it before the Mansfield game. Surely if that was the case, those concerns should have been raised in that meeting. Anyway, straight after that we got the statement from Rupp saying he would be investing to make sure we have a competitive budget next year. I took that mean that whatever budget is deemed necessary, he will make up any shortfall that isn't achieved through season ticket sales. So why is GA now saying he doesn't know what the budget will be until we know how many season tickets we sell? It doesn't make sense and certainly doesn't give me any faith that Rupp will be true to his word.

Any cynical fans could possibly look at this and think it was just the usual hot air from RS & SR to get a few more season ticket sales.

Maybe they don’t want to sing from the roof tops that they’ve a massive budget, which would then bump the price up on every player we enquire about. I don’t have any complaints about bringing Oyegoke back. He certainly improved in the second half of the season compared to before the injury. He’s quick, strong and with a run of games could be useful. The problem is, where to play him because Brad had that spot nailed on this season. Tomkinson is a better centre half but can be sloppy, maybe that position would be available.

We’ve got to be realistic here. The defence for the large part wasn’t the issue, it’s primarily midfield and a mobile goal scorer that needs significant investment.

No. Don't be so cynical! ;)

Certainly, something has changed which has impacted views on here and elsewhere on buying season tickets. The concerns about what is going on at VP look to have dissipated and ST sales have exceeded my own expectations and the poll on here. Only two things have changed since then. Firstly, David Sharpe has arrived reinforcing the footballing side of the business which personally I regard as a positive move. Secondly, Rupp issued his 'will do better' statement shortly after his visit to his first match at VP and around the time of the fans' protest. Coincidental? I'll take him at his word for the moment and expect him to be held to his promises. Unfortunately we won't know the sincerity of his statement for some time and whether things at VP really improve.

Unfortunately that still leaves Sparks in the hot seat and that leaves me unconvinced the the club knows its direction of travel. Lots of fans do however appear to support that approach as measured by their purchases of STs and I sincerely hope that the confidence of those fans isn't misplaced.

On the whole Alexander has done ok. I think his win ratio isn't too bad. If he and Sharpe can have the biggest voice, then there's hope. Sparks must not be allowed to have any input other than providing the budget to the head of football to spend how he sees fit. As you say, we're a few weeks away from seeing how this plays out but potentially a week away from the released list being published.

I’m not convinced by the “don’t let other clubs know the budget” argument.

I get what you are saying but every club CEO or chairman has seen Rupp’s statement from 3 weeks ago.
It was an open letter and was all over social media for days.
He clearly states in it “I pledge my support to ensure we are now able to compete in the transfer market, giving us a greater chance of having a closer fight with teams at the top end of the table next season”

All clubs now know we might have a few more quid to spend than usual.
The skill is working out if the particular player is worth the extra cost.
If they decide he isn’t then move on and don’t be held to ransom.
There will be loads of players available in the summer.
Hopefully with Sharpe coming in we have a bit of football transfer nous in the building.
    Time will tell.

What I do agree with in your post is the final paragraph.
Just looked at the stats and only 6 teams have conceded less than our 55 goals.

Unfortunately,at the other end 21 teams in the division have scored more than our measly 52 goals in 43 games.
Losing Pattison and his expected 8-12 goals has obviously had an impact but more goals from all areas is something that definitely needs sorting out.

It doesn’t make sense until you view it differently. If they said no matter how many we sell Rupp is going to top it up! ST might not sell as well. They have certainly increased since his statement to fans plus the arrival of Sharpe. No doubt about it Sparks was panicking. GA is on messages in “link ST sales with budget’ and they don’t want us getting used to the alternative message ie Mr Rupp/Top Up owner. Just a thought.

Trust has completely gone for me with this regime Mrs O, the heat was taken of Rupp and Sparks with this sharpe capture and its definitely paid dividends regarding the season tickets sale maybe its the cynic in me but something definitely dosent feel right for me.
