Out of contract players

Platt ?? He's our best centre half by a long way. There's no way we should be ditching him, he would walk into most L2 teams. If it's a straight choice between Platt and Stubbs then we keep Platt all week long and twice on Sundays.

 

Agree with needing a couple of central defenders Idle.
Platt and Kelly are a couple of big units but to me, they've very little football ability.
Good at hoofing but no idea where the ball will go.
Need better if we are to progress.

Agree to an extent Damo, but League 2 is where we will stay if we don't continually improve.

 

I would like Oyegoke to sign as well.

I know that his merits divide the fanbase a bit and there is the odd worrying moment, but I think he's got some ability.

Watching him on Saturday there was a moment when the ball bounced towards him. Someone behind me shouted for him to not let the ball go over his head. He did, but within a blink of an eye he was five yards ahead of the striker with time to then pick a pass. He has a confidence that you can't train in, it may get him in trouble occasionally, but I think it would also add a lot to our squad next season if we were able to sign him again.

 

Brentford didn’t sign him because he is poor. Their scouting team is top notch and pretty compatible with Brighton . They must see something in him to give him a two year deal with options?

 

I hope we keep Stubbs. He's only 25, vastly experienced, has never really disappointed when he's played, yet like like Jamie Walker does seem to suffer from injuries. Remember the Exeter fans being distraught that we had signed him, they claimed he was their best CB and attributed his performances to them securing promotion. Is that type if quality we need to hold onto, just like Walker, yet manage them better.

 

Oyegoke has improved in the last couple of months. He was possibly one of the better players as far back as Harrogate away and he scored an OG. His form in recent weeks has been excellent and he has that pace that get out of jail pace that the best have. He is a strong option if we can get him. Still raw at times but improving like several of the younger squad members

I think Stubbs has had a poor season overall. We need much better and time to part ways.

 

I think if gets a settled position we will see a far more consistent player. A young lad making his way, the last thing he needs is swapping from position to position and different formations. I'd have thought Brentford would have sent us information that determines where they see him as a player, a centre back or a defensive midfielder for instance. I'd be looking to send him out to a club that needs that sort of position filling, not ending up using him as a utility player.

 

I guess one question with Oyegoke is will he permanently want to move north? Born and raised in the capital

Stubbs has had a shocker this season, and between him and Lewis, probably got Hughes sacked.

What's more, he isn't a GA type player, so very much hope he leaves.
