Viewing another forum, “money bags” Forest Green are expected to have a similar playing budget this season as per last - thought to be £1.5-£2m.

Quality is needed with that budget.

Even if no one leaves, with £1m left to use, you can add 5 or 6 real quality players at L2 level with that. And 5 or 6 of those quality players would make the world of difference to this squad.

Despite the problems, with a budget like that (and some players will still leave), we have to be aiming top 3 without doubt.

Great article and a very welcome read.

Out of them 16 players you'd expect around 4/5 to leave. I think the budget suits the level we are at and seems in line with what the rest of the league will be budgetting.

The regular communication seems adequate and you have to give the club time now to build bridges. Rupp seems to be sticking to his word and putting money in still. Hopefully once GB returns from holiday we'll see some new players coming in and current ones leaving.

I’m not getting too excited. The budget sounds excellent and will be by far the largest in the League. If Bowyer gets it right then we should walk it.

I’m no Edin fan but the whole article sounds a bit like the club are blaming him for pretty much everything. Its easy to blame someone who isn’t their to defend themselves and it also appeases the paying customers.

I have no doubt Edin made a hell of a lot of stupid mistakes and I’m not defending him in any way.

Rupp having no idea about a 1.1mill overspend is laughable and I really have no sympathy for him. Only a poor owner would let that happen. While I’m glad he has covered some of our debt, do we have any idea if this is a loan or just a complete write off? That needs to clarified. It also sounds like the Wyke and McBurnie money will go towards the debt and if its doesn’t materialise then Rupp will again cover the remaining debt, again is that a loan that will eventually need paying back?

There were positives and I feel better for reading it but there are still lots of things that don’t feel right. I still don’t feel the Todd situation was explained correctly as Bowyer himself said he was a victim of circumstance.

We have seen this kind of communication from the club before and we all get giddy for a week or two before another meltdown happens. As explained in the article, I think we are all going to need a lot of patience.

Doyle is number one waste of space to shift if possible
Next he'd get 10 goals all season, 4 of which are penalties, having missed a further 4.

Though an offcomedon (I think that's the local patois) I read that and the phrase "cautiously optimistic" springs to mind.
However I await the comments of my goto man on all things BCAFC @Fordy117@Fordy117

    Ooooooops - Sorry Johnny ! :D

I just can't see any demand for most of the players, even if we give 'em away. Six I'll be happy with, any more and it's a great big 'Brucie' for all of us. ;)

I am hoping the “victim of circumstances” means our relegation, not financially but status and Todd might want to have a stab at being a manager on his own. The club had said they were thinking of offering him a better deal than what he was on, so can't think it is financial.

good budget, hopefully can shift Scannel, Doyle and Riley - even with potential relegation drops I imagine we'd be talking about £800k back in the budget - wouldn't surprise me if they accounted for close to half.
Wonder if the Reeves truth will come out? Also disapointing the Robinson situation is taking so long, due process is needed but it's been a bloody long time

What a change of tack from the club. They have probably been a little too open about affairs but it is probably worth it if it helps in trying to rebuild the relationship with the fans, and helps get back some of those who turned their backs under Rahic, so well done to all concerned.

That budget is brilliant for League 2. It would be respectable for League 1. Some League 2 clubs' totals will not even reach our extra £1m, never mind the £1.6m already committed or the £2.6m combined. If I remember rightly, Lawn once said near the start of cheap tickets that commercial revenues roughly covered overheads and ticket sales would go to the playing budget, and it was in a year that we reckoned they both were projected around £1.3m, though I think the playing budget grew as the season progressed. That means our budget this year is twice one of the lower budgets in our last stay in League 2. Some other moneybags clubs might decide to chuck some money about but I doubt more than a few will spend more than us.

We should be able to sign half a good quality League 2 side. The problem will be getting the League 1 players we already have to do their bit or leave. I'm not certain either will happen but I'm happy to have Bowyer as the man to try motivate them. If Rupp takes some money back from Wyke and McBurnie add-ons, I'll have no complaints. He's done enough in setting a very good budget for Bowyer and doing it early. Hopefully, we can now start with a team of players next season that do not look like they've just met and dislike each other. A bit of good luck would not go amiss, either. We must be due some!

Certainly won’t complain at the budget, I’d rather Bowyer using the extra £1mil than Rahic still being here and him spending an extra £10mil!

If the budget's going to be tight, then I reckon it's entirely reasonable to ask just how long the club have to hang around waiting for the likes of Reeves and Robinson?

I know that the situation is beyond Robinson's control, but aren't we approaching the point where Reeves has to decide if he's going to play football again and if it's going to be with Bradford City? I think it's becoming clear that the club can't afford any passengers. In any other type of employment taking over a year out of a job would almost certainly lead to a contract getting terminated I expect. Regardless of the reason for the absence.

it's decent, but by no means will it be "by far the largest in the league"
it'd be enough to get to the play offs if the game was played on paper, but I don't think it'll be the biggest and by no means should we be walking it.

I'd imagine that employment law will dictate our approach for both.

I don't expect Robinson to feature for us in the immediate future. But if Reeves comes back and is physically and mentally fit, then he'd be a good asset in League 2.

Reeves is due to report back for training at the end of June, I guess that is the time, when it will become clear, if he is fit enough to resume his career. If not, then his contract will need to be reviewed.

Which club in the league will be paying more than £2.6mill out in wages? Notts County and Luton had the biggest budget the season before last which was set at £2million. I cant even imagine Salford are going to get close to that if they want to stay within FFP.
Swindon have a budget of £2million and their manager Ritchie Wellens admits they should have been promoted on that kind of budget.
