Yes, but at the moment he has £1 million to recruit new players, but the situation is fluid.

He has, on Twitter, and it may surprise you.

It is initially set at £1.2 million, excluding National Insurance Contributions and bonuses, although it is expected to rise to around £1.5 million by the end of the season and will be adjusted upwards further in response to any cup/windfall income.

If we have £1m budget left for next season that equates to 9 players on an average of £2,137 a week.

I do think we are getting our city back. Slowly, but any progress is good progress! It's good to see some dialogue from the club, stating we do have announcements regarding players/kit but now is not the time. I think we do have to remember these things take time!

Another interesting thing in this article is that no player has a relegation get out clause but a proportion have a pay cut for relegation.

On Twitter yesterday Posh chairman said he refused to sign Eoin Doyle last summer due to his high wage demands !! Hopefully he will have had a pay cut.

Yes not all had those relegation reductions in their contracts. My guess is that Doyle won’t have!

Agreed. I think the message, as per the WOAP article, is a hugely positive one, albeit with caveats and cautions not to get carried away.

Nice update but most of it with regards Rahic is hardly new news to many who had openly posted as much many times in the past.

"Ryan and Mick talked about the restrictions they experienced working for Edin, and the consequences of certain decisions the former chairman took"
Good to hear Stefan will cover monies required to cover past losses and present budgets going forward, get May out and we might hear about new signings etc, which always raises expectations for the coming season whoever arranged this we fans thank you @Glenn Ackroyd@Glenn Ackroyd /@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler ? .

I have been calling out Rupp specifically over many months.

In respect to this article, which I can only take at face value, I'm going to give some due credit.

It looks like, Mr Rupp has covered £1.2m of debts and that he commits to covering debt if the Oliver Mcburnie sale fails to occur.
It looks like Mr Rupp is engaging in conversation around the club.

So all in all, at face value, fair play to Mr Rupp.

My only slight reservation about this statement would be, he may want player A, but his package would be too high for the worst case scenario budget, so he goes for player B who is cheaper. We then receive the windfall from the McBurnie sale and suddenly player A who would have been affordable, is no longer an option because he's already brought in player B.

Does Rupp put in the extra based on the potential sale, because he's already said he'd cover any additional debt if the transfer doesn't happen, or does Bowyer recruit on the worse case scenario and miss out on potentially better players?

Good article overall though and although some won't like it, we have to be patient which can and probably will, lead to frustration for some.

With the relegation clauses in the players contracts it may help move some on to other clubs who will much more be able to match the wages and some players may move to div one clubs for less rather than play in div 2, I think GB may be able to move half a dozen onward freeing up more money

    Indeed.

£2.6m is higher than our first season back in League One (£2.5m) and £100k lower than the season after (14/15). Given the FA grant decreases by circa £400k, it’s a decent budget for L2.

Remember, going back to L2 days of yesteryear, two of our largest playing budgets were £1.8m (loan from ML) in 08/09 and the highest being the promotion and cup exploits season at £2.1m.

    Draw up your comparisons.

Me too, but somehow I doubt it given he was demanding high wages!

I think even in div 2 we will find we have to compete with players wages of £3 to 3.5 thousand a week, Even this though would allow around 6 good signings and spent well by GB I think we could have a very good season

Hopefully fans will cut him some slack because of it too - though unlikely. Incredible respect for GB in his approach. I think having JR scout the Scunthorpe game was touching and inspired.
