I agree with Fordy here - for the probably the first time ever - it still seems a bit lackluster IMO. "I know a lot of people in football"... I love Stuart even last night, on a zoom call, you can tell he loves the club. Mental to me when he spoke about getting in a head of scouting at 20k a pop. Surely, the club sees the potential long term investment in getting in someone that can unearth a few gems to be useful for a year and then sold on at a profit?

Other than that I thought last night was decent. Everyone that was on there that's connected with the club spoke well. It's impossible not to get a little excited...

 

But the previous custodians brought a modicum of success. An era that saw positive results on the pitch and positive news coverage off the pitch. Forward momentum. Rising attendances. A push for the Championship. A glow around the football club.

Your right, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Consider this. Remember the day the football club was sold to R&R. Compare the situation to today and ask yourself, is the club in a better position on and off the pitch?

And yes he may have backed us, during this current regression but he does have the insurance policy of Oli Mcburnie.

His culpability during the last 4 years is of his making. Owner, financer and custodian.

On the whole scouting thing it felt to me he thinks he has enough contacts and people in the game he can lean on to do us favours etc. It’s all very old school.
It might work in this shite league but moving up we have to move forward and look at a more solid scouting base. Should a left winger go we have a list of 4 or 5 names lined up Based on what the manager wants and we move on those targets. It all feels very short term and season to season all the time. Our budget could remain a lot more consistent for one if we go this way and not fluctuate depending on how crap we do

 

Even with the salary cap, with no guaranteed ticket sales income or even season ticket sales, you’d have to be mad to take on a club of city’s size unless you were loaded. You’d want it for free based on the lack of income.
I think Rupps here for at least next season even if he wants to sell up. There will be no takers

 

I think they were referring to the fact that Rupp is not charging interest on the loan he has made the club, not that he wasn't at the meeting.

 

Don't worry that's what a forum is all about others opinions, I was just pointing out how the above mentioned plays it both ways when if suits him, one minute telling fans to get into the 21st century (looking at players on that scouting app) then saying we need a scouting network, as Stuart said last night in the lower leagues very few teams have scouting networks.
Maybe a poor example but didn't Rahic say he had a good scouting network in Europe, I can't remember one his imports being of a decent standard never mind league one standard.
The way Stuart address the question he and many other managers will use modern technology but also take advice from fellow ex-pros, scouts don't always get if right.

 

My biggest worry was Ryan saying he would find a someone who would be a benefit to the club.....now where have I heard that before?

 

There are still no long term off the pitch plans other than raising the issue of the lease in a few years time. What is the long term strategy of the club for the next 5, 10 or 20 years? Would they aim to have any assets other than through players?

I appreciate there must have been many questions but another I’d have liked answering, is whether the pitch will become a hindrance to way Stuart likes to play and has any substantial work been put into it, to make sure it lasts a full season?

I’ve learnt my lesson

 

Ryan Sparks is a yes man. Someone to try and appease the fans. In a way i feel sorry for him because the fans anger will now be pointed at him instead of Rhodes and Rupp.

 

Here's our problem. Especially the latter and who can blame him?

 

It just gives me less respect for Rupp and Rhodes that they put someone else out to take their flak. Although Rhodes lost most of my respect when he let Bowyer do his own press conference. never seen that before in my life
