I’d feel a bit uncomfortable about moving grounds permanently to be honest. I think a big part of who we are is shaped by what happened in 1985 and the thought we might walk away from that at the end of the lease, so the land is sold and possibly turned into run down housing, a mosque, Halal supermarket or bazaar etc, saddens me.

There will be pressure to move though. Odsal is so dilapidated and the Bulls are on the up under John Kear. They will be back in Super League in a few years and may press for ground development. Wouldn’t surprise if a ground share of some sort did materialise eventually.

Brighton have a great stadium cost 140 million ish, it cost a shed load to run and can only be funded in the premiere league. It's out of town which is the biggest b/ache of all. I would love to go back to the old stadium personally, our new premier fans wouldn't be that keen though. Buying back VP is that an option?

Buying VP will always be an option, but one not taken unless Sheikh yawallet, or A N Other steps in with the dosh.

Keep up Jon, keep up! @BSABantam74@BSABantam74 has only recently found a collection of magic beans, unicorn eggs and some old City programmes under his bed. On the back of his newly found treasure trove, in conjunction with an unnamed German investor, he has now submitted planning permission for a new stadium, training facilities, Cat 1 academy and shopping mall at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Bradford area. Watch this space for further developments.

Any muppet that buys the ground should be committed - it’s a dump of space right in the middle of a shithole.

Buying VP would be a lot cheaper option than starting from scratch

    Easier too.

What, realistically, would you set the capacity of a stadium to?

Might as well be 15,000 for the next few millennia. Only times we'd need bigger is big cup ties.

Oh FFS! I ignored post for a while but it's a top level crackers post from a bloke who'd clap at the end of a hard fought defeat at Horsfall.

VP is an odd configuration, it's not owned by BCFC, we can't expand....anywhere, it's in a b.a.d area. It's the only club in the FL where it's support base want live as far away from their football club's ground as possible.

    Corporate income?

The 15k VP rocked, a 20k+ in another area would too..

Why do we need to expand a 25000 seater stadium?. As for fanbase wanting to live as far away as possible, thats a bit ironic coming from someone who lives just 3 miles away from VP

When was the last time we filled VP? We got 15k gate roughly last season and even less towards the end. Why would you want to expand and put further financial pressure on ourselves with overheads when we haven't even outgrown where we're at now? The rent deal at VP is inverse to what division we're in, so whilst its a millstone now it actually works out better the higher we go.

The money it would take to build a new stadium would most likely be more than the cost to buy VP. I'm not being funny mate but I live about five mins up the road from bramall lane at the moment and its not exactly a picnic round here either, yet that's had precisely no effect on them whatsoever and doesnt with us. Could you honestly say the location or amenities around VP have affected numbers in any way whatsoever ever?

Lets move from a 26k stadium to a 20k in the name of ambition ey.

Spotted this review of the consequences of a ground move. It is actually an interview with the former CEO of Bolton. His analysis of moving to a new location and the impact. In my view a lot of the points are very relevant and it must be remembered that the Horwich Parkway Railway Station is next to the Wanderers stadium!

“The location of the stadium in Horwich, seven miles away from the club’s birthplace at Burnden Park, has become a pitch too far for many older spectators to get to.

Neither the train, bus nor taxi could replace the ‘arrival’ at Burnden Park where it was estimated that 65 per cent of the spectators would walk to the stadium from the surrounding townships of Great Lever, Daubhill, Deane, Little Lever, Breightmetand Farnworth.

It is estimated that eight per cent of the Reebok attendance now walk to the games whilst the large majority have to arrive by car, bus, train, taxi or public transport.

I also wonder if the relocation of the football stadium had an impact on Bolton’s town centre? The stadium was easy walking distance from the town’s shops, bars, restaurants, train station, bus station when after the match many thousands of supporters would walk into town before making their way home.

A good victory would also encourage supporters to call into the bars for a celebratory drink. A revenue stream that was lost when the club relocated to Horwich.

I’ve learned over the years that football fans are complex characters who often vote with their feet. If something isn’t right for them, they still remain fans of the club but don’t attend matches”.

I do like what Luton are doing. Inner city stadium. Shops etc. Brings life to the city on match days. We could have worked with the council but missed chance

    Its still there, VP is still close to the top of town and North Parade gets pretty busy on matchdays. Definitely an opportunity but I don't have faith the Council could deliver anything rather than the club;
