Ha yeah, I went 18 months ago after being caught at 36mph, the fast n furious rebel that I am! It was like something out of "The Office", a double glazing salesman's home from home, even the "best" bits of the ground are well dated and totally soulless.

 

Was talking to someone the other week who was involved in the original fit out. Says it doesn't look any different nearly twenty years on. Christ some new decor wouldn't go amiss, even if its just to tart the place up a bit. Magnolia walls FFS .

 

The place reminds me of The Fighting C.o.ck, I went recently, it's a great boozer but it's place in the world left about 1990, unfortunately it couldn't move with it. VP will forever hold Bradford City back. Give me a 20k+ ground in a nice place anytime.

 

Stopped doing speed awareness courses a week or two ago, don't know why. However Rhodes stopped a lot of activities in his spell a few years ago at the club like Bradford education conferences and the stadium facilities are underused.

 

That's crazy there were two suites in use when I attended, I found it very interesting, and it saved me money after my initial course fee, as it does not go on your licence.

 

You do have to move with the times or you get left behind. I do like nostalgia in certain situations like old pubs and the like but a good example is what they have done with the lounge and bar areas in St Georges hall. A new design but fits in really well with the original structure. As for VP, i guess it serves a purpose but for how long in its current guise who knows? The corporate areas are scruffy and out of date in terms of fixtures and decor, would think twice if i was a potential big business looking for those sort of facilities. Would be interesting to know what sort of figures the corporate side pull in with the facilities they have available although with the stadium not belonging to the football club i guess the club don't really give a shit.

 

I agree apparently a good facility for the speed awareness course but was told last week that they no longer do them at Valley parade. Wether it’s cost cutting I don’t know.

 

The income from outside of football games wouldn’t change by owning the ground.

If as a club we want to own our own ground financially it makes more sense to buy VP than to build from scratch.

 

I've been told by others who have attended those courses they have had to attend in Manchester if the indecent happend there, I got a ticket for doing 56 round the M606 that links you to the M62 going to Brighouse.
There must have been 30 in our group and as I said there was another suite being used the same day, maybe @Glenn Ackroyd needs to ask the question I would suggest it's very good revenue for the club.

 

Well, it must be our age difference, after an hour I was on my knees and wishing I'd taken the £100 fine and 3 points. By hour two I was a potential shooter........It was my first offence in 30 years, 12 months later I got done again ...........36mph on Kirkstall Rd

AS an aside Bronco, I forgot to tell my insurers until renewal time, what difference did the TP30 make to my renewal quote? Nothing.

 

I can't think, beyond "Area salesman of the year" awards, what the corporate areas would be used for? They are not fashionable, not glamorous, are in a "Not good area" and are seriously dated. They are spacious though, I'll give them that, but they need serious updating.

 

With regards your insurance the guy taking the course said if they ask you you have to declare you've been on the course but if not then you don't need to make them aware, and as you say not all insurance companies penalise you for attending the course.

 

I think he was saying he forgot to declare the 2nd incident, the one he got clocked doing 36mph on Kirstall Rd. That one he had to take the points (not another course) and he forgot to mention them.

 

How on earth is VP holding us back?.what is it holding us back from exactly?

 

We were told by the guy running the course if you get another ticket you can't attend another course within 9 years.

 

Correct mate. I think this is why he had to take the points second time around and then forget to declare them.

 

Yeah, you may be correct. I was agreeing with Bronco that you cannot retake the course within a period of time and that I think this is what happened to Abbomf. I couldn’t tell you how long that “period of time” was, but I knew it had to be long enough for it to be deemed a success
