Bit of debate this afternoon about the club leaving Valley Parade and relocating to another part of the City ? Not necessarily Odsal.

    So its your binary choice

Well, based on the fact we are tied into a lease for another 9yrs and haven’t got the finance to move out and build another stadia elsewhere, I think it’s all irrelevant

It will take longer than 9 years to plan a move and PLANNING is what we should be doing.

    Yes.

We should have a ten year plan.

We have a stadium capable of Championship football, which holds 25,000.

We have not outgrown this stadium.

The requirement for a new stadium will coincide with outgrowing VP.

    Is that likely?

Only with massive investment on the pitch - at which time we will have an owner wealthy enough to consider building a new stadium anyway, if let's say we can double our attendance.

    Otherwise, what is the point?

Bradford City Council slewed that down the drain on a useless vanity project outside Chuff Hall ! It's knackered now and won't see running water in the next 5 years? Can't be repaired without great cost ! So had Bradford Council spent that £30m on a New Stadium for it's citizens just think of the economic and social benefits v pond feature ? ...you get the drift !

But they aren’t going to. You do understand that don’t you?

So either this is just a discussion for discussion sake or where is the money coming from?

If it is the former can I vote for a forward think solution. It would be a floating stadium with the ability to fly around at light speed to collect all fans from their home within seconds before hovering over City Hall for the actual game.

Whatever the result of this poll it'll never get past the meaningful vote stage and the remainers will say we didn't know what we were doing and demand another peoples vote. Meanwhile Skyebantam will say he didn't vote for it and declare himself independent. Then there's the back stop. City border or metropolitan district border. My god you've opened a right can of worms here. Lock the thread before it all kicks off.

How many times have we filled the stadium? Once. Ever.
Is there any central suitable sites? No.
Are we locked into the lease? Yes
    Can we afford it? No
Is Valley Parade falling down? No
Is there a sensible reason to move? No
    Oh and 1985.

On this issue, a definite remainer; others above have given the same reasons I would.

As far as urban renewal/regeneration goes, a sports stadium in a city rather than the suburbs can help. Make it an attractive destination, increase the traffic to and from, and you just might see more businesses start up in, or move into, the neighbourhood to take advantage. Most will be places to eat and drink, but a few others might pop up as well. It will take some time, but various North American cities have shown it can be done. Of course, a successful team, or at least a team that promises to be successful, is a requirement. And it is a problem that the stadium is in use on such a limited basis. Whether through sports or other activities, e.g. concerts, you need to get more use out of the stadium. A first-class grounds-crew would be needed, not to mention suitable protection for the pitch. A proper BCAFC museum/Hall of Fame could be a draw as well.

In RCB world this could all be done...but in RCB world, there is sufficient money along with good relationships with those others who matter: Council, sports teams, other organisations. Also in RCB world, money would be available for buying up properties in the immediate neighbourhood as they become available, with the ultimate goal of gaining sufficient ground for a decent car park, fans' area, stand expansion, etc. A (perhaps very) long-term project.

First I take Manningham, then I'll take the world...

I actually like the fact that City is located ‘in the City’, rather than some ersatz, bland, manicured area. The Etihad is in the middle of a North Manchester area which has little soul!

I dislike elements of the current ground, such as the crap seating space in the lower tier of the Main Stand, the poor toilets, small screen TV’s in the concourse and of course the pitch, which despite (underfunded/inadequate) renovation is still relatively poor. But I would choose to rectify these elements ‘on site’.

Perhaps you should go to the ‘Sixfields’ stadium next season, to see how a brand new ‘out of town’ stadium feels.

I wonder where BSA Bantam thinks we are going to get the money from to finance a new ground, be interesting to hear his views on that before conducting a pointless poll

Easy. He intends to develop his own unicorn farm and sell their golden eggs to unsuspecting customers in farmshops for a tidy sum. ;)

I've heard that was to have been his plan but he has since realised that a small group involving an Bosnian ex-footballer have already cornered the market in magic beans and won't give it up without a fight!
