All these fans advocating building a new stadium. Aside from being tied to a lease at VP for a few more years, I would be interested to know where or how the funds would be generated. You can rule out the council, by the way

Whatever the result of this poll it'll never get past the meaningful vote stage and the remainers will say we didn't know what we were doing and demand another peoples vote. Meanwhile Skyebantam will say he didn't vote for it and declare himself independent. Then there's the back stop. City border or metropolitan district border. My god you've opened a right can of worms here. Lock the thread before it all kicks off.

I actually like the fact that City is located ‘in the City’, rather than some ersatz, bland, manicured area. The Etihad is in the middle of a North Manchester area which has little soul!
I dislike elements of the current ground, such as the crap seating space in the lower tier of the Main Stand, the poor toilets, small screen TV’s in the concourse and of course the pitch, which despite (underfunded/inadequate) renovation is still relatively poor. But I would choose to rectify these elements ‘on site’.
Perhaps you should go to the ‘Sixfields’ stadium next season, to see how a brand new ‘out of town’ stadium feels.Onside and Idlebantam like this. -

The money it would take to build a new stadium would most likely be more than the cost to buy VP. I'm not being funny mate but I live about five mins up the road from bramall lane at the moment and its not exactly a picnic round here either, yet that's had precisely no effect on them whatsoever and doesnt with us. Could you honestly say the location or amenities around VP have affected numbers in any way whatsoever ever?
Lets move from a 26k stadium to a 20k in the name of ambition ey.Onside and Idlebantam like this. -
Spotted this review of the consequences of a ground move. It is actually an interview with the former CEO of Bolton. His analysis of moving to a new location and the impact. In my view a lot of the points are very relevant and it must be remembered that the Horwich Parkway Railway Station is next to the Wanderers stadium!
“The location of the stadium in Horwich, seven miles away from the club’s birthplace at Burnden Park, has become a pitch too far for many older spectators to get to.
Neither the train, bus nor taxi could replace the ‘arrival’ at Burnden Park where it was estimated that 65 per cent of the spectators would walk to the stadium from the surrounding townships of Great Lever, Daubhill, Deane, Little Lever, Breightmetand Farnworth.
It is estimated that eight per cent of the Reebok attendance now walk to the games whilst the large majority have to arrive by car, bus, train, taxi or public transport.
I also wonder if the relocation of the football stadium had an impact on Bolton’s town centre? The stadium was easy walking distance from the town’s shops, bars, restaurants, train station, bus station when after the match many thousands of supporters would walk into town before making their way home.
A good victory would also encourage supporters to call into the bars for a celebratory drink. A revenue stream that was lost when the club relocated to Horwich.
I’ve learned over the years that football fans are complex characters who often vote with their feet. If something isn’t right for them, they still remain fans of the club but don’t attend matches”.

Let's look at the facts. In the past 60 years, we've been in the 3rd or 4th tiers for 48 of them! We've flirted with the 2nd tier in 10 of those years and of course in the top tier for 2 years. But having spent three-quarters of our recent history in the bottom two tiers says a lot about our club. That's the reality of the sleeping giant you refer to. Unfortunately, it will take a lot more than a different owner to wake us up from our current slumbers. It will require a complete change in our approach and I don't imagine that will happen in the near future.
Repeating yourself ad nauseam will not change the facts -

It’s remain for me. As one who does visit the area on non match days calling into Bar Italia for a chat and the best coffee and brandy going. The council and local landlords need to get the area tidied up and keep it tidy . The majority may want a new stadium but this won’t happen in my lifetime look how long it as taken to sort the Odeon out, and it’s still moving slowly. I’ll have a chat with the new Lord Mayor Doreen a Keighley lass she will sort it.
