suppose if you have paid £500 for a ticket and then travel etc you might get annoyed and take things into your own hands if you think incompetence is stopping you getting in

Taking the law into your own hands because you might get annoyed at being late into a football match is never acceptable.

Imagine there were a number of reasons it got like this, but fans should never be without blame. If they all had tickets and patiently waited and got checked before going in I somehow doubt it would have happened.

This isn’t aimed at Liverpool or any individual club or person, but it’s a simple excuse peddled out now just to blame authorities regarding football matches. So many examples of fans behaving like animals and it’s only got worse these last few years, just off the top of my head; you’ve got the playoff semi’s this year, Liverpool fans attacking the Man City coach a few years ago, Euros final last year, Leeds fans throwing stuff at Man City players and their own, Celtic fans attacking their players last season and now tonight shocking scenes at the St Etienne game. These are just in the last few years.

If people didn’t act like tw@ts so often there wouldn’t be need for over policing and altercations just a suggestion don’t act like an animal.

No. People said that there was loads of ticketless Liverpool fans getting in. Sitting in the aisles etc.

THE French minister seems to be blaming local youths for trying to force their way in.

Weird innit. The ones who moan about people who visit TCA forum seem to be the ones who visit it the most.

When you speak to any party involved, they're going to take a defensive position and seek to blame others. An independent inquiry is the only way to establish the facts around what happened, and where lessons need to be learned.

Can we trust EUFA to hold a truly independent enquiry though?

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/30/liverpool-demand-apology-for-french-ministers-irresponsible-comments?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

It seems that EUFA has already held one meeting with various interested parties without bothering to invite any input from Liverpool:

Hogan continued: “I’ve also read this afternoon in the media that there was a meeting this morning with French authorities and Uefa and a number of other stakeholders; however, we were not asked for our input or to submit any information ahead of the meeting. We are also reviewing legal avenues available to us on behalf of affected supporters.”

Didn't people say we all should wait for the inquiry results before jumping in?

    Perhaps he's doing that?

    Here's a question for you.

Regardless of the results of the enquiry, are fans wrong to climb the fences and take things into their own hands?

How do you explain legit tickets being refused at the turnstiles? Andy Robertson says he gave a friend a legit ticket and they were refused entry. Like I said earlier it seems to have been a huge screw up by the powers that be. Maybe if they had got their act together all the fakes would have been properly identified long before fans got anywhere near the ground. I would think a simple app would be able to detect a fake ticket at a perimeter checkpoint?

As soon as you start an argument with that then you show how ill informed and prejudiced you are.

The ban from Europe after Heysel wasn’t just because of the behaviour of the Liverpool fans, it was because of the behaviour of all English supporters for decades. That disaster was just the final straw. If it had been solely down to that one incident then only LFC fans would have been banned.
I bet you use the phrase “JFT39” as well. Clueless.

As @BenitoCarbone@BenitoCarbone said, the ban for all English clubs wasn't just about Liverpool. Continental clubs and EUFA had been sick to the back teeth of trouble caused by English fans for years. If it hadn't been Heysal the ban would have happened anyway at some point.

The fake tickets issue is bullshit. It's now clear that the number of fake tickets was a minor issue that the French authorities initially used to excuse their poor organisation of the event. It now appears that a much bigger issue was the number of genuine tickets that the scanners failed to register. Likewise the exaggerated reports of Liverpool fans scaling walls to gain entry when most of that seems to have been locals. Also the siting of the (totally incident free) fanzone too far from the ground and the dangerously narrow route that the Liverpool fans were forced to take.

You seem determined to apportion most of the blame on the Liverpool fans. Let's wait for the (hopefully) independent report to see how much was their fault, as opposed to poor organisation and terrible over-aggressive policing. Don't forget there were also issues at the Real fans' end.
I have no particular affection or affiliation to Liverpool FC. I just don't like to see ordinary football fans getting blamed for the failings of the authorities, just as happened at Hillsborough.
