I'm tapping out of this as I don't want to argue with fellow City fans. I just think the authorities are clamping down on the blame game without accepting any responsibility. There will always be deviant fans. You plan for that

Weird innit. The ones who moan about people who visit TCA forum seem to be the ones who visit it the most.

    Happy reading.

The French authorises & UEFA are running scared as they have narrowly avoided a disaster. Nobody with any sort of a brain should be believing their story of events which are being ripped to shreads by Liverpool fans, the media, sponsors and now the French police. The Europa League final was a mess and now this following on from the Euros final in the summer, UEFA know they've messed up and are trying to get out of it. France are terrified with them due to host the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics in the next couple of years.
On social media people who were quick to blame Liverpool fans should be as equally quick to apologise.
This is more than 1 match this is about the awful treatment of football fans that has been going on for a very long time and needs to stop

When you speak to any party involved, they're going to take a defensive position and seek to blame others. An independent inquiry is the only way to establish the facts around what happened, and where lessons need to be learned.

Don't be offended. Wasn't moaning just observing. Find some of the TCA posts quite funny at times.

Why would the media and French police say Liverpool fans weren't to blame if they were? Why did UEFA change their story from late fans to fake tickets? The answer is that story was shown to be a lie.

I won't pretend I've seen all the accounts you're referring to. All I've seen so far are several parties proclaiming no wrongdoing and blaming others. Its why a properly independent inquiry is needed before anyone can really judge. And that inquiry has to demonstrate all the factors as to why events at the Madrid and Liverpool ends played out so very differently.

Can we trust EUFA to hold a truly independent enquiry though?

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/30/liverpool-demand-apology-for-french-ministers-irresponsible-comments?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

It seems that EUFA has already held one meeting with various interested parties without bothering to invite any input from Liverpool:

Hogan continued: “I’ve also read this afternoon in the media that there was a meeting this morning with French authorities and Uefa and a number of other stakeholders; however, we were not asked for our input or to submit any information ahead of the meeting. We are also reviewing legal avenues available to us on behalf of affected supporters.”

The late fans message was not worded correctly.

It was merely informing everyone that fans weren't yet in the stadium. Late arriving fans has been muddled out of context into implying that fans were late to the ground, but the message was supposed to be interpreted as fans are still entering the stadium - not all fans have got in yet.

    Poor wording.

From what I gather its partly situational. The Liverpool fan zone was located on the other side of Paris meaning a lot of fans came to the ground via limited routes causing bottlenecks. French youths targeted that side of the ground causing further gate closures. I can see why the comparisons will be made with why was Madrid ok and Liverpool not and then assume the problem was Liverpool but the actual organisation and operation are key points too

You should get a job as Boris Johnson's PR manager with spin and excuse skills like that. If that's what they wanted to say then say "due to fans being not yet in the stadium" or "due to crowd congestion".
UEFA are covering their own backs and the more that is coming out the more similarities there are between this and Hillsborough with the smear campaign by the authorities

Both sets of fans had different entrances. Liverpool had a dangerously narrow passage to get 20,000 fans through. At most 3 turnstiles were open out of the 5 but the majority of the time 1 or 0 turnstiles were open whereas Real Madrid had 5 turnstiles. That doesn't taken an independent investigation to see it's an issue. Fan were trying to scan their ticket and got
    sprayed for no reason.

Real Madrid fans also have told Spanish press of their experiences which weren't positive at all.

I've no doubt that poor organisation and planning will be factors and demonstrated as such. And even if its shown that large amounts of Liverpool fans turned up ticketless or with fakes, that in itself isn't necessarily 'wrong' - the means by which fake tickets can be circulated and ticket security need to be looked at. But all factors need thoroughly, and transparently investigating. Including supporter actions. The key is in ensuring its impartial, effective and transparent.

As for the police - we've all seen examples of the Police acting like sh*ts in every country. Its never pleasant seeing people pepper sprayed and I've no idea whether it was justified in this case. It may have been a case of excessive and unnecessary force, or it could be that the actions taken were factor in dispersing the crowd and preventing a situation that resulted in serious injury - or worse. The opposite end of Police action is indecision. And we've seen the tragic consequences of what inaction can lead to. Again - I've no idea what context is applicable here and I'm hoping that the inquiry lays it all bare. Because if it doesn't, then there's a risk of another tragedy happening at some point in the future.

I wouldn't trust EUFA as far as I could throw them to conduct a fair and independent enquiry. The more information that emerges the more it looks like they and the French authorities royally screwed up the logistics for this game. They won't want that being made explicit. Expect a whitewash. Who knows, they could even get the Met Police in to advise them how best to do it.

We need to be thankful us Bradford City fans don't have to worry about such things.
