It strikes me that the whole episode is worthy of a lot more investigation.

I am sure that there will be some people who behaved in an unacceptable manner.

However at this stage, it is not possible to say just who, did what and the numbers.

The evidence needs to be pulled together and thoroughly analysed.

What is of crucial importance is that there are objective ‘checks and balances’.

I worry that certain parties, may try to ‘fit’ some of the evidence to justify their position.

The investigation team has to contain representatives from all the interested parties.

All the evidence that is considered, in reaching a conclusion(s), should be in the public domain, so that it is fully accountable and open to forensic examination and if necessary cross examination.

Clueless on what ???? That they murdered 39 people ..........you keep sticking up for them though ........I mean it’s not as if they held a trophy parade on the anniversary of that tragedy is it ???? There was no ban gonna happen till they caused it ............. sooner on later like here the hooligan element was gonna get sorted out ............. sadly these lot set the English game back years with there ........ and please seeing as your well informed why mock Everton fans with a Bucharest flag ????? That’s right mocking your rivals because your actions prevented other clubs winning the European cup and they even turned that into a joke ................ ashamed of nothing offended by everything

Anyone who regularly went to live football through the 70s and early 80s knows that Liverpool fans were no better or worse than fans of numerous other English clubs. There were running battles between rival fans and the police every weekend for well over a decade, up and down the football league and on trips to Europe.
The Heysal disaster was terrible but it could have happened thousands of times over at numerous games. There was nothing specially horrible about Liverpool fans compared to those of Leeds, Chelsea, West Ham, Millwall or many other clubs.
The anti Scouse prejudice on this thread is pretty mind blowing.

Ok and like the love in with Liverpool mind blowing aswell.............. I know there as violence across all clubs but the fact remains they got all English clubs banned and have they learned from it ????? Well no not really when there still trying to get into grounds without tickets ...............and maybe there is an anti LIVERPOOL thing going not SCOUSE that brings Everton into it who suffered more than anyone of there actions in 85
I mean a trophy parade on the anniversary of a tragedy there fans caused please have a word ...............I mean anyone buying a fake ticket knew that some poor sod with a real ticket would suffer did they care ???? Did it bother them ???? No .............. so please keep in with the Liverpool love and see what happens the next time they grace a final

As @BenitoCarbone@BenitoCarbone said, the ban for all English clubs wasn't just about Liverpool. Continental clubs and EUFA had been sick to the back teeth of trouble caused by English fans for years. If it hadn't been Heysal the ban would have happened anyway at some point.

The fake tickets issue is bullshit. It's now clear that the number of fake tickets was a minor issue that the French authorities initially used to excuse their poor organisation of the event. It now appears that a much bigger issue was the number of genuine tickets that the scanners failed to register. Likewise the exaggerated reports of Liverpool fans scaling walls to gain entry when most of that seems to have been locals. Also the siting of the (totally incident free) fanzone too far from the ground and the dangerously narrow route that the Liverpool fans were forced to take.

You seem determined to apportion most of the blame on the Liverpool fans. Let's wait for the (hopefully) independent report to see how much was their fault, as opposed to poor organisation and terrible over-aggressive policing. Don't forget there were also issues at the Real fans' end.
I have no particular affection or affiliation to Liverpool FC. I just don't like to see ordinary football fans getting blamed for the failings of the authorities, just as happened at Hillsborough.

    "Seems to have been locals"?

How do you come to that conclusion? I've literally seen one video of what looks like "locals" climbing a gate and the rest certainly appeared to be Liverpool 'supporters'.

I accept that it's very difficult to tell though so I'm just curious how you can be so confident that the vast majority were all local people.

The only footage I've seen is clearly locals. The eyewitness reports I've read suggest the same. You've been asked several times to provide links to the videos of Liverpool fans climbing into the ground but haven't done so.

The one video you've seen is presumed to be locals?

I'm not sure though why I'm supposed to spend my time finding and linking the videos. Either search for yourself if you're seriously interested, or don't. I won't be losing any sleep over it either way.

Feel free to post the multiple links you've found of "locals" jumping fences though. It should add balance to the debate.

I never said anything about multiple links. I said the only footage I've seen is clearly locals. You're the one claiming to have seen multiple footage of Liverpool fans climbing in yet seem strangely reluctant to provide linked evidence.

Yes, but the narrative spun by the French authorities was that the problems were caused by large numbers of ticketless Liverpool fans climbing into the the ground. What this appears to show is a few individuals from a much larger group of frustrated fans trying to get in because they'd been locked out by the authorities - hence their calls to 'open the gates'. A very different picture from what was initially claimed.

It's EXACTLY what I'd claimed and was mocked by you and others.

I've posted the links, it's up to you if you want to make excuses to justify that behaviour.

What I will say is that the whole organisation of the event seemed to be a shambles and the investigation is fully warranted and welcomed but that doesn't excuse the behaviour of a group of fans that really should know better given their history.

I believe its people jumping the turnstiles/ fences at the ticket checkpoint. The stewards don't appear to be too happy with quite a few of them anyway.

Locals selling fake tickets then ????
Listen if the fans with real tickets had shown up and them alone then I doubt there would have been any issues ..............but loads are trying to either climb in for nothing or get in on a fake then that’s when it becomes a real issue .......... don’t get me wrong the Police etc may have acted badly but why did they react that way ?????? It was down to Liverpool fans yet again and this sadly won’t be the last time this sort of stuff happens ............... time and time again this stuff goes on and 9/10 it involves one club and one club alone

I doubt the ban was coming considering what they had got away with for up to 10 years .......... it happened because 39 Italians lost there lives to the actions of fans of one club and one club alone and that my friend was Liverpool........... but do these lot ever learn ??????

Had it just been about Heysel then EUFA would just have banned Liverpool. But they didn't, they banned all English clubs because Heysel, awful as it was, was the last straw that broke the camel's back after more than a decade of trouble involving British fans from various clubs.
You are certainly living up to your username.
