If..Doyle goes big mistake

I’m not sureits lack of effort, more a lack of ability, he’s just painfully slow ar everything he does. People thinking a drop into league 2 would suddenly make him discover pace and physicality, i’ve got news for you. It won’t.

I admit when I say work rate I'm not talking steps made that achieve nothing or fruitless runs towards opposition players who easily play round him, I do indeed factor in physicality and the actual desire to win a football in a challenge. Which he never, ever does.

Minute ten was it when he leaped out and away from a fifty fifty?

 

When i see a forward i want him to be able to beat the defender either for pace or physicality. If he doesn’t have that i want him to have footballing brain that allows these deficiencies to be less of a factor. I just fail to see what Doyle brings to the table. Apart from falling over a lot.

 

Yeah but, but, but he takes a good penalty.

 

Like I say, probably good in a shit team playing long ball break away football as long as someone can win the ball and get it to him.

Think we're too good for him, and he's be better at an Oldham or a Cambridge.

 

He brings the same as last season.......feck all

 

Maybe that comment needs directing at Bowyer, Ive not seen anyone post Doyle behind the front two is the way to go.
Although our hold up play was better we had few players wanting to take the ball from the likes of Donaldson or Vaughan who both played a similar role today.
We were crying out for some natural width but for some reason Bowyer didnt introduce Scannel until to late in the game.
I hope Bowyer is not the stuburn type that persists with a system until if works.

 

You could have started Scannell, it wouldn't have a difference.

We did lack width, but he's not the answer.

 

Signing Anderson and retaining Doyle and Mellor has told me everything I need to know about Bowyer

 

He has no option to retain Doyle, unless someone takes him off our hands

I rate Mellor personally, think he will be one of the best right backs in this league

Agree about Anderson, amazed he was offered a new contract. He never has any impact on the game, when he can be bothered to get involved, its always the easy lazy pass usually back to the player who has just passed it to him. Devine was far more positive when he came on for him

 

Retaining Doyle and Mellor? They're under contract - unless someone comes in for them there's not a lot he can do about them being here (although I'm not sure why you think Mellor being here is a problem).

 

Anderson is down to Bowyer but since when have players not moving out been the managers fault.

 

Ok, I acknowledge they were under contract but that doesn’t mean they have to make the starting XI. Mellor was absolute gash! Doesn’t even look like a footballer. Feck knows who picked him for MOM.

 

Cut him some slack, he might be a bit slow. Some of the comments are making me chuckle though at least. Need it after that.

 

He was garbage, sick of the we don’t play to his strengths line. We’ve had fans use that tired line for years about several flops.

The thing I blame Bowyer for is picking him in the first place, him falling over and not being able to trap wind is totally his own failings.

 

Thought Mellor had a decent enough game going forward. For some reason we seemed to ignore him when in space on a few ocassions.

 

Funny old game @Loyalbantam I thought Mellor was far better going forward than the lad Henley, not sure how they came to that decision for MOTM because no one today was above average.

 

Doyle wasn't by himself for slipping over in the first 20-25 minutes the likes of Donaldson, Vaughan, Doyle and Gibson were on their arses more than once.
