So everyone thinks Doyle should go. However an injury to either Donaldson and Vaughan which in this league you have to expect. Kicking lumps out of strikers is how defensive you have to be in league 2. Would be a striker short. McCartan staying but not playing in preseason nor paudie are my worries. Keep Doyle and between the 3 will be sound. Definitely not sell to rival as in Salford. They panicking now everyone expect to buy everyone and other than lad from Brighton nothing. With double Ds and Vaughan I believe

Firstly, not everyone is saying that and secondly, if he does go, do you really think Bowyer won't have a replacement lined up? He isn't stupid and knows as well as you do that injuries happen and we need back ups.

Doubt we will get anybody as proven or accomplished as Doyle.

Here's a scenario for you. If Doyle leaving meant we could sign a replacement forward who will score us 8 goals from open play next season, and also have enough to bring in a decent central midfielder, would you take that?

The question you should ask yourselves is why would a 'proven and accomplished' striker want to put up with being third choice at a league 2 club. Especially one aged 31.

Wouldn't mind him going for a younger replacement, one who'd be more appropriate as a backup player. Take a punt on a non league lad with a proven recent scoring record. Forward line is old enough as it is.

Good god how many 'who should be the new manager' threads have you contributed to before the existing one was sacked. In fact I think you start most of them.

We'd only let him go if we had one or two lined up to replace him... Bowyer has said there's 2-3 more he wants to bring in but needs to move players on to do this. If this needs to be Doyle, and so long as he is replaced, I have no problem with this. Equally, if he stays I think he'd be a great player to push / provide cover for Donaldson / Vaughan.

I do agree we shouldn't let him go without something lined up though. As you say, one injury and we'd be threadbare again. Same on the wings and centre mid at the moment.

Because the two in front of him are the wrong side of 30 so plenty of opportunities will be available.

Doyle will score more than 8 next season. For us or Salford.

Doyle is one of the worst 'proven' strikers I've ever seen at the club...maybe on a par with McLean.

Doubt he would be difficult to replace if he went. Maybe one of those dummies they use to build a wall in training?

To be fair he had next to no service last year and spent the majority of his time with back to goal. Salford have brought quality players in which have resulted in back to back promotions. If they are wanting Doyle it's safe to say they're after him because they think hell be a real asset in L2. With that in mind, Id like to see him stay. If he does go, then we should be accepting nothing less than a £150/200k to ensure he can be adequately replaced. For once, we hold the cards

You could say the same thing about lots of players who drop a division. Dwight Gayle wasn't exactly pulling up trees for the Mags but was scoring for fun at West Brom.

Not sure everyone wants him to go but with our budget almost used up, we need to move some players on to sign the sufficient quality to sustain a promotion push all season.

The problem we had last year was a total lack of options and balance particularly out wide. Currently we are scannel injury lay off away, again of having not quality cover out wide.

I’d rather get rid of a McCarten or akpan but there is clearly no interest. 3 quality strikers where we are likely to play one or two at most up top seems a waste.

Get a loan in up front and a winger or two and a strong CM from the Doyle money with a bit extra on top and we look much stronger. Let’s get it done this week

all he proved last season was that he's crap imo, service or no service he showed nothing. Players with much less 'proven' ability (despite him only ever scoring over 20 goals in a season twice in his whole career at age 31) performed far better so I can't understand the belief he'll come good as he's never been that good to start off with.
