I do, and I also understand that a goal scorer who misses sitter after sitter should also be held accountable for an abject goal return.

I'd be happy if Doyle was moved on. I don't think he'll ever score enough goals to be a considered a luxury player who contributes nothing to the team. I haven't seen what he is actually good at yet and that's a concern after a full season of football.

We could go back to last season and say we can't judge him on that but for the players who remotely showed that they had something about them I could tell you what some of their stronger attributes are. I'd ask those that are ultra defensive of him to advise what he's good at rather than pointing out he scored a few goals elsewhere?

You were very critical when this car crash summer was unfolding. In no way did you clamour for patience and tell us to judge Edin's master plan after 3 years.

If only more had followed suit.

I don’t think he missed that many chances he spent to much time chasing the ball deep something that doesn’t suit him at all. I feel confident playing beside Donaldson he would score goals. Having said that Bowyer said yesterday we have to cut our cloth accordingly and if we can use the money from the departure of Doyle to strengthen the team overall in Bowyer we trust

The fact he only scored 4 goals from open play all season as he certainly had more than 4 chances if memory serves.

The one I remember -- because I was there, behind the goal and right in line with him - was the chance at Shrewsbury where instead of shooting he passed to Miller, who fluffed the chance and as it turned out was offside to boot. I would have expected a goalscorer to try the shot himself. Instead, what looked like a sitter was missed, and perhaps two players' confidence took a blow. In some ways the season then continued as it began for those two.

I wouldn't mind him being kept as cover, but he may well be too expensive for that.

    Spot on for me.

Never looked a bonafide goalscorer last season, and had his share of chances - genuinely wonder if he is more comfortable playing in front of crowds at teams like Chesterfield and Oldham, because at Cardiff, Preston, Portsmouth and Bradford he's struggled.

I agree with some posters here that we won't get a better third choice striker, however - but also feel he won't represent value to the squad unless there is an injury to Donaldson or Vaughan. It's a bigger gamble to keep him, in my opinion, than to bring in reinforcements in a couple of positions if we can free up his wages.

The goal machine was much worse than Doyle much, much worse. I also give you Dom Poleon and Wes Thomas awful. I'd be happy to see Doyle go and someone else come in can't fault his effort but it just hasn't happened for him and his output is not worth the money he gets.

On loan at Oldham the season before last Doyle got 16 in 34 appearances. They were all on YouTube. Most where he was put through one on one, some very good finishes and I seem to remember only one header. I'll admit that he wasn't so good last season (like most of the squad) but I don't remember him missing loads of chances.
I too would like to swap Doyle for someone younger and with more pace to back up Vaughan and Donaldson but some of this slagging him off is a bit OTT considering what he had around him. My opinion I'll agree but I've heard a lot of others say the same, including some of City's biggest critics that I drink with (not to excess I might add)!

I spent a whole season watching him before I came to the opinion that I have now, can't argue that he hasn't had a fair viewing. As I've said, there were other players with arguably less pedigree still performed despite the shitshow around them. David Ball performed well up front and had the same service as Doyle. Jack Payne almost outscored him and he didn't even start or play much after Jan and he also isn't a centre forward. Deserves pelters the same as the rest for last season, and hasn't showed anything different this season so far albeit its early doors.

Offload Doyle and Akpan. Two of the biggest wage burglars on the books.

Neither put in a memorable run of games, in fact I’m struggling to remember one game where I thought they stood out. Maybe Akpan at Burton is about it, but then he had a point to prove.

Both look to coast through games and that’s not what I want to see from any player this season.

Only 4 goals from open play?

Is that a fact or an exaggeration?

It doesn't hide the fact that Doyle was seen to 'fluff his lines', now and again. But at the same time, so did many others given similar opportunities ;)
