Sorry pal, I thought Robinson was largely anonymous today. I'd have taken him back off again and thrown Vernam on at 75 minutes.

Sick of these s***house teams in league 2. Personally i thought we deserved the 3 points.

that ref is arguably one of the worst ive seen. Diabolical.

No one looking at Paudies role in the goal we conceded?

Yes the ref was poor but we must defend better than that and Paudie jumping in from 8 yards away like an over weight seasoned Bradford Sunday Alliance player left us overloaded and created the issue. Just stay on your feet and defend it properly and I don't think we conceded.

Same as last week at Swindon. Very good for the majority of the game but then does something completely stupid and costs us a goal.

If those mistakes had come from certain other players this forum would have seen the traffic crash the servers.

I might be on my own here, but I don't see 'stubborn' as a problem even in games where certain things aren't working brilliantly.

I know people get frustrated with stubborn management, and I understand it, but I don't believe it's actually the negative that some think it is.

Some managers will chop and change and tinker all the time; some will focus on the opposition when they decide how their team will be set up; others have a style of football they want to implement and every game, win, lose or draw, is experience gained for the team trying to play that style.

Personally, I'm seeing improvements in Adams' team - we don't just bomb down the wings and endlessly miss the target, we seem to be becoming more compact and more difficult to beat (although what can you do as the manager when a guy just stumbles his way through your entire defence and scores?), we're getting more and more dangerous from set pieces with largely the same personnel - we're still playing nice football at times, and our passing play is capable of cutting through defences pretty swiftly albeit we aren't doing this for 90 minutes, just in patches...

But I do see improvements, and if that is the result of 'stubbornness' in terms of tactics, well, stubborn away Mr Adams. It's not the WRONG way, it's not the RIGHT way, it's just one of many ways to manage a squad of footballers and honestly, 4 points from Swindon away and FGR at home ain't bad, is it?

Its not a big game. It’s bloody Forest Green Rovers! If you think it’s a big game then how the mighty has fallen.

They’re top because the league is shite!
We shouldn’t be what 10 points behind them but we are because we have been shite.

Bradford City V FGR is far from a big game.

That was a very frustrating game to watch. Cook should have scored two.
FGR still very cynical on the niggling foul falling over front, which was disappointing given their new manager is supposed to be forward looking etc.
Finally, I thought all the officials were dreadful, falling for the falling over throughout. The defending for their goal was awful but the play should have been stopped well before then. Twice the ref put his whistle to his mouth and then changed his mind. I know players have to play to the whistle, but I think it's a reasonable expectation that if the ref puts his whistle in his mouth he is going to blow it
Shame about the injury to Lavery too, he was looking lively.

Surprised by some of the comments after today. Regardless of what we think of this league FGR are too by merit having won 65% of their games so far this season, with a great away record. First things first - don’t lose.

Secondly - give them a game. We certainly did that and should have been at least 2-0 up at HT.

Finally - be professional enough to see the game out. The goal apart, which was a questionable foul up field however plenty of opportunities to prevent after that, we defended well against a decent striker in Matt and from what I watched, limited them to very few chances.

All in all frustration is fair - we’ve done enough to win. However on reflection there were far more positives than in recent weeks. Surprised some on here are disappointed with today as I thought we gave a decent account of ourselves against a decent team on good form.

Last word on Canavan - his influence on our performance, organisation and temperament is hugely effective. One incident in 2nd half POC was mouthing off to the ref (as he does - and in this instance fairly) and likely close to talking himself into a booking. Canavan calmly strolled in diffused the situation and Paudie turned and walked away before more could have been made of it. The stability he brings is clear in the results when he’s missing, but there’s so much more to what he brings from what I see.

FGR such an aggressive team with jelly legs when in possession. Shocking ref who doesn’t understand football. To be honest thought we would get whooped today, but feels like two points dropped. But if you milk the ref it’s always going to go in your favour.
Glad I am a City fan couldn’t watch that FGR sh1te every week.

Lavery was a menace, when he went off we lost our edge.

Robinson I thought was a workaday forward, didn't make a difference, but didn't do anything wrong. But Lavery WAS making that difference early on, and it's a real shame he had to go off. Cook and Robinson just didn't link up at all.

Cook should have put us 2-0 up, but this is the first time we've looked like a threat from corners - which is really pleasing to see - Paudie had a header saved, and it looks like a lot of work has gone into that. All last season we were terrible at set pieces, despite the deliveries being okay.

The referee was garbage, FGR were okay, we were okay overall, but I can't help feeling that if Lavery hadn't got injured we'd have had too much for them...

Just watched the “inside match day video” the club release, and how the foul on Gilliead wasn’t given is unbelievable. The guy plays Gilliead and not the ball then he plays advantage to them. The video is taken from the main stand side and it’s as clear as day. Poor, poor refereeing.

God I hate FGR. Pathetic antics and they dragged a few of our lads down with them.

They’re a tough side but we deserved to win that. How on earth did Cook miss that tap in first half. Unbelievable miss.

Trouble with our fan base and I suppose people on general is we always need someone or certain people to blame when things go wrong instead of accepting it’s not good enough across the board, it wasn’t just one reason why we drew yesterday there were several:

Ref was a shocker, I know it’s not the cool thing to blame refs on here as people just think it’s making excuses but he does his job right we don’t concede regardless.

Cook missed a sitter, that goes in we’re 2-0 up and they don’t get back in the game regardless of the shit ref.

Defending after the refs incompetence, take the game out of the refs hands and do the basics and stop the guy running through our hole team!

Adams not going for it. For me I’d have brought Vernam on for Cook who blows out of his backside after 70 minutes and played to hurt them on the counter, might not of worked but worth a try. Adams talked about it’s how many points you have at the end of the season that counts so to me this means he was probably happy with a draw against top.

All these are reasons we didn’t win, and I doubt it’ll be the last time we can throw out these. But let’s be honest this team isn’t really any better than mid table, as I said after the Swindon and Rochdale wins, still plenty of poor games to come. This went better than I’d have expected a couple of weeks ago tbh. We need more quality if we are to challenge.

On a positive we've played two teams above us now and have been the better side in both, albeit there wasn't much in yesterday's game. We do lack that bit of quality which Adams has already alluded to and that would see us around the top three. This division has no stand out teams, we reduced the form team in the division to one effort on goal, which unsurprisingly for us this season they scored from. Couple that with the fact we again created scoring chances suggests this team isn't far off getting it right. Just not clinical at both ends of the field to consider automatic promotion.
