There's no doubt that Gilliead was about 500% better playing in a central role than he has been on the right. It's unlikely that Adams will drop either him or Lavery after their displays last Saturday. So I reckon we'll see Cooke and Vernam on the bench to bring on later when legs are tiring and/ or we're chasing the game.
I wonder if he'll consider giving Cook a rest and starting with Robinson at any point. It might do Cook some good.

 

Alex played central last season at Scunthorpe but we put him back wide I'm interested to see how he does in the middle because he's not much of an outlet out wide

 

Problem is we'd need some tacklers/energy around him. He also needs to shoot more.

I'm keen to see a central two of Songo'o and Sutton. Sutton seems to be our form central midfielder at the moment and Songo'o was allegedly brought in to be the missing piece of our midfield jigsaw so let's see what he can do now he's fit and match ready.

 

We might be able to have all three that would be interesting there would be some balance there imo

 

Who knows let's just have faith in Adams that his team selection delivers another positive display and result.

Think a few (me included) doubted him last week when he appeared to drop Vernam with little justification but it worked and all we can do is trust him.

It's a long season there'll be many ups and downs before May, hopefully Angol will be back sooner rather than later.

Look, the saying is don't change a winning team. This is true unless its a top quality player that needs to come back in. We don't have any top quality players.

Keep the team that got a result against Swindon and see what they can do.

Cooke and Vernan are not that great.

Broadly agree Fordy - winning teams like playing together. I'd pick the same eleven. Disagree about Cooke and Vernam - they're good League Two players who most other sides in our division would like to have in their squads.

 

I think Adams quite likes to be the underdog. It's how he stapped the vitals at Morecambe and there's a big element with him about drawing a squad together with the shout of 'it's us against the world, lads'. It's his style and its worked so far.

 

With you on all of this Offcomedun, except for a rest for Andy Cook. I think he's the kind of player who doesn't deal well with 'rest'. He needs to be out there all the time and feels an absolute slight when he's subbed. There are alot more goals in this guy this season.

 

We don't have a player thats good enough to walk straight back into a winning team. That's the point.

Sutton benched, Canavan benched etc all had to wait and rightly so. Not good enough and neither is Cooke.

 

I hope he does leave it as it is and see where it takes us. Last week worked very well because although they had 73%? possession we soaked it up easily without sitting too deep (like we sometimes did under Parky when we went in front). Then when we got the ball, through Sutton, Gillead and Lavery we broke quickly.

 

It will be interesting to see if Adams recalls Hornsby as he was wearing his mask at training or would he go with 7 outfield players.

 

Who's Hornsby? New signing?
