Gary Bowyer - when do we judge?

Letting Doyle go is beginning to look very foolish. Not signing a replacement would compound the folly. But who will come in knowing we already have two hugely experienced strikers? I can’t really see at present where the goals are going to come from!

Just like we were saying at HT bronco. How that lad got his shot off for their winner without a single one of our players getting a challenge in was bloody criminal, and 1300 of us now feel totally shit on! As you said, would’ve taken a point, wish we’d had that luxury!

Its a tough call. Our positives are our defence and two attackers, both look better than last year. How you configure that midfield i don't know. I can see why Bowyer would favour a 4-3-3, i'm not one of those who clamour for a 4-4-2 for the sake of it, but it does allow players to know their space in terms of attacking and defending. You could play Vaughan and play Donaldson out wide but that negates some of his attributes. One thing we need to get in that midfield is mobility, its been clear in pretty much every game, even the Oldham game, that teams regularly out move us in the centre, to a point where we are chasing the ball.The worrying thing is i don't think its an easy fix, its gonna take time for Bowyer to work out his best method and i'm not sure not how long the fans will give him before voicing their disapproval.

 

But I don’t think he has signed the right players, we have plenty of midfielders but we really needed a ball carrier, and he hasn’t got one. I think he has been buying players just in case, and not sticking to the plan. He told us we need height and strength, he told us we needed pace. We are short of all those type of players. Our defence if he leaves it alone is strong, but how long will that last with a weak midfield? We have two striker, we most definitely need another. Midfield is crucial which is why our performances are poor. If we can sort that midfield out it immediately gives more power to both defence and attack.

 

Bowyer let Doyle and Clarke go and brought in Vaughan and Donaldson (not in that order) - would you like to explain to me how that doesn't make sense?

 

Find it bizarre he can sign 11players and not know how to play them.

Gonna be a long season on current showing.

 

Home to Northampton next Saturday is it a must win for GB? I'd say it's definitely a must not lose at least, big pressure on the clown now.

 

Bowyer may be causing concern among supporters but he is clearly not a clown. He has managed a club to promotion. Normally after signing so many players, managers talk about needing time for them all to ‘gel’. I think his squad needs at least ten matches before it can be judged.

 

He had the whole of pre season to get them gelling. Yet he wasted games by playing the kids or trialists who were nowhere near good enough. League games are not a time for experimentation.

Peter Taylor has five promotions yet last week was used as a yard stick as to how bad managers apparently can be when I criticised Bowyer. Bowyer can only live off that Blackpool season for so long, the here and now are what count and since March (this is no knee jerk of the last few games), he has performed very badly, with baffling decision after baffling decision, which without repeating have been very well discussed in this thread.

 

Also, what happened to the pace we were promised in the summer? Watching us attack yesterday we looked like a team full of pensioners, it was painfully slow.
