Gary Bowyer - when do we judge?

He asked who the 14th signing was. If we've signed 15 how can it be incorrect Mr pedant?

 

He's signed 13 and resigned 2. I don't know how to say it any clearer than that.

 

i'd like to see devine sitting infront of the defence if he can be disciplined enough not to wander too far - although possibly a bit lightweight he does put himself about, doesn't mind a tackle, has good energy and uses the ball well. he doesn't try to overcomplicate things and he keeps things simple. i'd then like to look at a two of palmer and cooke infront of him - both good passers of a football and cooke especially would break forward from those. if we stick with a three at the back so we can play two up top, and we can keep the ball well in the centre of the pitch i'd trust those three to be able to provide service to our wide players. cooke especially would also be looking at breaking late into the oppositions penalty area to support the front two.

the majority of teams are going to try and dominate the midfield at this level by packing it, at least with a 3 when without the ball you can go man-for-man and not leave one free all the time. if we go with two then one of the forwards has to drop in to help like vaughan did for spells against oldham.

so, what's your central two in a 442?

if you don't know the difference between fitness and match fitness then that's on you. you keep avoiding the question though.. you'd prefer 442 as we'll be better that way, you say we've plenty of midfielders to chose from but you still won't say your preferred two who will help us dominate the middle of the pitch. it shouldn't be a difficult question if that's your preferred formation really.

 

I see the signing of new players and offering players that are already here new contracts as two separate things, you don't seem to. We'll have to agree to disagree.

 

We haven't got one decent center midfielder, let alone two. That's the reason the recruitment has been so poor and the reason that with either 2 or 3 in there we still get over run and dominated.

Oh, and if your system relies on Danny Devine then we might aswell all pack up and go home now. He's not good enough, he never has been and never will be. He's a reasonably useful squad player but that's as far as it goes.

 

If they are previously out of contract then it's a new signing, how can it not be?

 

so if that's the case why does it matter to you which formation bowyer chooses? why does it matter if we play 442 with wingers or 352 with wingbacks to give us the width everyone demands?

you're still avoiding the question though. i replied to the question with the reasons why i'd go with a three and why i'd chose those three.

 

Bowyer surely got to go now. Poor recruitment, poor team selection, poor tactics, poor excuses.

So why is Longridge not match fit then?. Its not like he has been out injured.

As for midfield, from the current crop of players available, my 4 would be Pritchard-Palmer-Cooke-Devitt...However, I would have been looking to bring in a midfield enforcer, which I know we havent got, and I dont think Bowyer has any intention of doing so.

If Bowyer is so anti 4-4-2, then it has to be 4-3-3. I have never seen a team at this level look convincing playing 3 at the back

 

I just don’t see Rhodes having the balls to tell Rupp that Bowyer has to go.
We’re stuck with him until we’re in the position where we can’t get promoted. Unfortunately that’s how I see it.

 

I don't agree with you at all on the poor recruitment bit. Vaughan and Donaldson are poor recruits? Do me a favour.

 

i have no idea, but considering he didn't get a full 90 minutes in pre-season and has only played 90mins once this season he may not be up to speed with his match-sharpness or he may not have settled into league two football or england as well as bowyer would have expected by now.

so out of your 4 is that a flat four with wingers? a diamond? who is the midfielder that is going to break up the oppositions play? you've got one winger, one cm and two attacking midfielders there - not very balanced and not much pace either.

 

Not providing a midfield hence the tactics to supply them is poor recruiting

He resigned Anderson & Devine, signed Henley & Palmer who have been poor. Longridge can't even get into the squad. Vaughan only been the decent one. Donaldson been poor through-out the games. Lets Doyle out on loan because he wouldn't play to his strengths and he's now got 5 in 4. (lols) Keeps sticking with Akpan who he signed at Blackburn. He's not signed players for the positions which we need the most...

Poor all over really mate. I can't see what Cooke & Pritchard brings to the team neither. Neither did anything when they came on.

 

What's with the Donaldson love affair. The blokes scored 3 goals in 2 years. Stop looking at the name and thinking this is a game of football manager.
The truth is Doyle is showing our current strikers how it's done. Why? Because Swindon are playing to his strengths.

 

There's no balance to the squad, that's why it's suggested the recruitment has been poor.
