If Rupp / Rahic consider Henry a marquee signing for the fans then we’re f*cked and the flyover should definitely have happened.

You took on a lot of responsibility on your shoulders by doing this and put in a lot of time, which can only be applauded.

I also believe you’ve given a satisfactory public explanation as to why it didn’t go ahead.

Truth be told though, from what you’ve actually said, it 100% should have still gone ahead - the only thing that should have stopped it would have been an official club announcement stating that Edin Rahic has left the club. The fans have had enough of ifs, buts, maybes, promises that turned out to be bullshit and false statements etc.

It wouldn’t have damaged the club - it would have damaged Rupp & Rahic’s reputation and rightly so for the way they’ve run us into the ground.

Garbage!
The money is/will be safe.. it will be made available for future protests if required. There is also a groundswell of support for perhaps making donations of the money to worthwhile charities.
As for making the "fans look weak"... more garbage. It was a decision made after much soul searching it would seem... a decision based on information that we are not privy to at this moment in time.
It's just as well that breathing is a reflex action Fordy because I'm of the opinion that you would argue yourself out of breathing just for arguments sake if you could.

 

It did absolutely nothing of the sort. What it showed was that when it becomes apparent a planned action could do more harm than good, 'the fans' (one fan actually), is strong enough and big enough to put a halt to it rather than risk jeopardising potential new investment that could help take our club forward. If a certain person had been strong enough and big enough to call time on some of his ideas over the past couple of years, we wouldn't be in the mess we are currently in.

 

I have reflected on what to do with the money. Yesterday was Stephen Darby day, it was the day the flyover was happening. He is starting a new foundation, my view is that all the money goes to his foundation when it is operational. He is one of our own and exceplifies what a true Bradford City footballer looks like. I was emotional yesterday watching him take his much deserved bow. Just my view of course, but it would say to R&R this is the kind of player you should have been pursuing to continue the heritage of our wonderful club.

 

@JonButterfield have the people who got in touch and paused the question told you not to divulge what was said, if so all this is doing us getting fans against fans, even contributions from some who posibly didnt contribute.
You was put in a very awkard position with time running out, was this an official of the club who made the request or a friend of a friend (not doubting tor a minute that you won't get the money refunded) can you tell us if it was an officual approch by the club, or would you prefer it to remain anonymous.
This is not in anyway questioning what you did you was put in a difficult position IMO.

What are these facts?

You said it would damage the club but not willing to say how.

Only thing you've done is made @JonButterfield look silly.

What you did to put him in this situation is embarrassing. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Good, and how would a flyover expressing our discontent with the current owners affect that?

 

Why on earth would a potential investor be put off from buying a club because of a flyover?

Makes no sense.

 

Thanks for this post Jon, I think I understand the situation better now. However, I think a 5 minute google search of "Edin Rahic" and "Bradford City", would paint Edin, Rupp and the club in a worse light than the flyover could've done.

@JonButterfield, I personally would like to thank you for organising the fly bye and feel you were put into a position where whatever you did would be deemed wrong by some fellow contributors, our opinions will differ.
Could I suggest that any monies that are refunded you put into an account and hold until us fans who contributed see exactly what is happening at our club, if things do take a turn for the better off the field new investment in, and Edin out, then we can donate the money to say the Bradford Burns Unit/Darby's Charity both great Charities, that way we can make a decision in the near future whether we are happy with the situation or we need to intervene again.

 

It is not Jon’s decision that I disagree with and I have told him he has my support; it is the process of how it all happened that bothers me. However, it is time to let it all play out for the time being.

 

Despite what you might think do people really think Bingley Bantams would risk upsetting the fanbase and potentially their future baring in mind the fans who travel with BB are their main customers.. just to massage Edins ego.. yes they have supported him in the past as he was in charge of running the club so their opinion was why not try help rather than hinder. However I just can’t see how they would risk all that when he’s as good as gone.

Think people just need to accept that they’ve acted on behalf of another senior figure at VP Towers

If Rahic is still here for our next home game, continue with the flyover but change the message to something more appropriate. Something along the lines of saving our club or wanting change. That way the flyover goes ahead, a message is sent to the owners and there's no chance of it putting off any potential investors.

Don't let the club silence you after all the shît we've had to endure.
