One of the worst substitutions I’ve seen in 35 years of going to City. Our tails were up and we simply handed the initiative back to them on a plate. Absolutely criminal at that stage of the game in a play off tie.

Its got to be the same starting line up if everyone's fit. We have lots of options for the wide left position but unfortunately none are very good!
The diamond with Clayton in there makes us solid and difficult to beat. I think this side is more than capable of going there and avoiding defeat. I think we will need to score to do that as I don't see us getting through via a 0-0 draw but think we will do enough to get over the line.

According to the records, it was 17th August 1985 since we last beat Carlisle at Brunton Park. So you would have to be in your Mid 40’s at least to have any memory of it.

The last time we drew with them at Carlisle, was more recent a 0-0 on Boxing Day 2019, however it was clearly seen as two points lost as Carlisle were ‘bottom feeders’ at that point.

Records are there to be broken.

Time for Andy Cook to step up, and the defence to deal with set pieces.

    It can be done.

Being a Carlisle fan I'm not totally sticking up for Simmo here, however which ever way you look at it the Ref was very, very poor, your central defenders were all over Garner, and before anyone starts twining about Garner play accting, we Carlisle fans all know what Garner is like, if he can get an advantage he'll take it and he'll give out as much as he receives, however 2 or 3 times the game resembled an all in wrestling match. On the other side of the fence Huntington at one stage practically threw Cook to the floor at least twice. The amount of poor decisions (both ways) was laughable. Whelan was booked (rightfully so) for hauling back one of your lads on the far side, but literally a few minutes earlier the same thing happened to Senior (down our side) and the ref simply waved play on.
'Homer' is probably a strong word, however IMO he was very, very poor all round and for both teams.
Lets hope for a much better and stronger Ref at BP.

I know . Let's bring an extra central defender on and give them a totally free header in in the middle of the penalty box.
    Great work boys.

Can’t understand the logic in switching to a back 3 straight after scoring. Immediately took away any attacking momentum we had and gave them the initiative.

    Yeah, so?

Hughes failed this season, nobody is going to argue that.

But unlike Evans, he hasn't been fishing in the shit pit for years, so it's going to take him a bit of time.

As for all the Hughes Out gubbins, did you all prefer it when we were nowhere near the play offs?

    LOL, crazy overreaction.

    Might get some pelters on here but here goes;

Even though we are out I am pleased with the progress so far and at least took them to extra time.

first time in six years we’ve been involved in a play off campaign and people are acting like we’ve just got relegated!

we can’t immediately expect the world from one year to the next. Bit unlucky with Oliver out and Walker out most of the season.

Improve the squad in midfield and wingers and we have an automatic team on our hands.

    We move on.

Hughes will be here next season no matter what happens. He deserves another crack but jeez at times his football is like watching paint dry. Don't think he'll have the get out of jail free card of Andy Cooks amazing season so he's gonna have to get goals from elsewhere. This was his first shot at playoff football and he failed miserably. He fails next season and he's done like burnt toast.

We've been poor to watch all season, it's been Bowyer ball but with a better keeper and striker.

I think if you appoint managers that spend most of their recent history battling relegation then you're probably going to get that style of football....

All we've done for most of the season is rely on Cook to get us a goal, and then defend a slim lead (if we don't bottle it). We spent the last 45 mins of the 1st leg clinging on to a 1-0 lead in a two legged tie AT HOME.

It hasn't been attacking, promotion chasing football. It's been poor, ponderous, and mistake filled in a really poor league. Having very minimal goals from everyone else in the team points to that. I can only think of the two Sutton games where it was enjoyable to watch, and that was mostly because of Banks, who won't even be here next season

He knew about lack of pace last season, and didn't virtually nothing about it by signing ageing slow players.

Left hand side of midfield became an absolute joke and he literally gave up on it and ignored it leaving us totally unbalanced.

It's what he does Steve, it's what he did in the first leg. Second half we barely made an effort to increase the lead. What was the question folk were asking coming out of Valley Parade? Not what a great win but have we done enough? It's bitten us on the arse big time.

Don't think we will offer cook anything.

I think he will already be signed up somewhere. Cannot tell me with 31 goals and could sign for someone else since January he hasn't sorted a move out already and just not announced it till our season was finished.

That 3 in midfield should never be seen again. Slow and zero creativity. Needing a goal today smallwood first instinct still is to pass backwards.

we have no chance next season, whichever way we summarise this season it is a massive opportunity missed and much of the blame for not finishing in the top 3 has to lie with Hughes for not taking every single game by the scruff of the next, especially at home.
