Shit happens, not brilliant from us today.
Thought we didn’t play well and Carlisle probably did the better of the two teams.
I’m all for a work in progress and anyone calling for Hughes head after this season is deluded imo.
Yeah it’s less than ideal but given the absolute shite we’ve witnessed for the last few years I’m more than happy for him to give it another go next year.

Yer but he keeps talking about key moments in a game and he fecked up with the one that I believe was our eventual downfall today. Yes it was all about today and he bottled it. Team selection unchanged. Predictably poor down the left. Might as well have told Carlisle all our other tactical plans at the same time.

Radio Leeds could see it, we could see it but it still continued for a long chunk of the game.

He went 3 at the back because their 352 was overrunning our three in the middle .

The issue for me is Platt was game rusty, not the formation.

Disappointment is nothing new
Defending it however is a different level

Hughes will be here next season no matter what happens. He deserves another crack but jeez at times his football is like watching paint dry. Don't think he'll have the get out of jail free card of Andy Cooks amazing season so he's gonna have to get goals from elsewhere. This was his first shot at playoff football and he failed miserably. He fails next season and he's done like burnt toast.

The fact is taking Banks off and bringing Platt on did not work. It sent out the wrong message. It's self evident that it back fired.

 

So we haven't seen a good game all season then how have we ended up in the play offs? Stevenage Salford? We lost Wright and that hurt us but we've had the leagues top goal scorer too just think some are over reacting. I'm not saying it's all been free flowing man City type football but it is league 2 and we won't get players at thus level that can do that stuff.

My psychology on this is that we are trying to get to Wembley. One of our players produces a bit of great skill, absolutely skins their defence and creates a goal because of a terrific run from Derbyshire.

Suddenly I'm thinking yes, go for it City, we can do this.

Immediately we take Banks off, remove any possibility of recreating that, which was probably our best/only attacking outlet. I was dejected/frustrated at the time and I can't believe some of the team didn't feel the same.
