They was talk about a new stadium before James started. This isn't James is doing.

Look, the council should and need to do more for Bradford City and Bulls.

3 seasons in the last decade we’ve averaged over 18k so some quick maths says 46 x 3 = 138.

Then we had over 18k for the quid games against Stockport and Oxford. Plus the Cup games against Arsenal, Villa, Leeds, Sunderland and Reading. So 146 if you include the Liverpool friendly.

All that while being in leagues 1 and 2. If we have ambitions of being a championship club then it’s a stupid idea of an 18k stadium, even if we upped season tickets too £249 which I think plenty would pay for championship football plus the far bigger away followings so I think it’d have to be 25k unless we are happy to float around in the shit leagues forever.

Took me over an hour to get half a mile to the motorway when we played Bolton. Oh and it was a full crap away day, there’s plenty of people who don’t drive to the game too watch football for 90 minutes then just go home which is all you can do there.

Thankfully it’s a mute point as it’d never happen.

I wasn't serious about James Mason being involved.

The council have enough on their plates running the City, as a private business they shouldn't be giving any council tax payers money to Stefan Rupp or any other owner of Bradford City.
Bradford as a hole (which some areas are) needs investment but not from the council, they can help by giving cheaper rents etc but monies paid through council tax should be spent on all Bradfordians not a selective few.

A community stadium doesn't sound a bad idea in the main, look at Giants/Town, Hull FC/Hull City & Wigan Warriors/Wigan FC, all 3 cracking stadiums and nicely maintained.

Our problem is location, certainly City centre we've no space anymore.
VP? Only possible solution would be to flatten it and start again? That's a big no no for all sorts of reasons.
Odsal Stadium itself? How much would it cost to "fill-in" then build?
Richard Dunns? Massive area, surely this is the only available space that could house a stadium of the size we would both need?

From what I have seen many more than that. Given the way the world is progressing, then more people are travelling to games by public transport. Tried driving through Saltaire or Shipley on a match day? New developments factor in ‘sustainability’, the club would have to demonstrate that they have taken this into consideration(unless the council find some way to circumvent this as they own Odsal). It’s like ‘cycle’ innovations, the Leeds/Bradford Cycleway being an example (apparently built at a cost of £29 million).

Looks like the council didn't know either.
Important editor’s note: This article has been updated. Bradford Council contacted RL News to inform us that the quote attributed to a Council source, which previously appeared, was not issued by a Council spokesperson, that no attempt to contact the Council press officce was made and that the comment was not reflective of the Council’s position on the issue. RL News is happy to make this clear.

    Close thread ;).

So City have denied knowledge of this, the Council have denied knowledge of this and the article has been updated accordingly.

I think your sums are flawed m8.

Unless we play 46 home games a season and in every single one had over 18k (which we didn't as we had a load of free kids tickets on that figure who never turned up).

    Give me a figure then? 200? 500? 1000?

Out out of a 15000 crowd it still doesn't make it "essential" in my mind.

Based on my experience, I'd say somewhere between 500 and 1,000 home supporters use the train; so somewhere in the region of 5% of the home crowd.

I’d like to see the actual attendance rather than the official one including all ST and flexi holders. Fewer than three dozen games genuinely over 18000 since relegation from the premier league would be my guess.
Bradford as a City is dying or dead on its arse, Bulls are dead or dying on their arses. Brentford are spending £70m on their new 17k seat ground, Cov reckon £52m for a new stadium. There is close to zero chance of anyone investing £50m in a new stadium in Bradford even if it’s shared between a failing rugby club in a dying sport, a non league club and a perennial lower league football club. Forget it.

I wouldn't like to guess. You have all the fans from Skipton/Keighley/Bingley/Saltaire, where it's not worth even trying to fight your way to Bradford in a car. Vast majority get the train. Been speaking to everyone who I go with and no one would want a ST if we went up Odsal area. Pain in the arse to get there and nothing to do up there.

So have a drink in town like you do now, get the train to Low Moor and walk to the ground. It's a similar distance as Forster Square is to VP.

I personally think it is pie in the sky - but if the Council are seriously looking at it then I think we would be foolish not to consider it.

Odsal is located just off the motorway and is within walking distance of a train station, the site is big enough to also provide ample parking and we would should then see the back of the pitch drainage issues. Ground sharing appears to work very well with football & rugby league teams and as such should benefit both clubs financially.

I think we are all emotionally tied to VP for obvious reasons but if you hypothetically could start again, I doubt anyone would seriously pick this location as one to site a 26,000 seater stadium.
