I would like us to move stadium. Valley Parade is in an absolute dump of a location, full of undesirables looking to break into cars and the parking and access is an absolute nightmare. VP itself is shabby, rundown and looks unfinished.

An 18,000 stadium at Odsal isn't the answer and I am not sure what is. All I know is if Man City can leave Maine Road, Arsenal can leave Highbury etc then we can leave VP in order to progress and improve our future.

I am not sure what makes VP so special because lets face it, we have some horrendous memories there and the vast majority of our history is in L1 and L2.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of past financial support for the Bulls and the lack of it for City, the fact is that Bradford Council is skint. Ten years of government grant cuts have reduced it to around a third of its pre-austerity era budget. It is struggling to provide halfway decent child protection, older people's social care and many other services. In a city of 600,000 people the idea that it's going to blow huge capital sums to please the 25k who might pay to watch City and the egg chasers is pie in the sky.

When Bradford had the great Westfield Hole in the centre, that was a time to rethink the way forward. They could have had a City Centre purpose built stadium, which could have accommodated both City and “nouveau Northern’. Good central links to both rail stations. Close to Manchester and Wakefield Road arteries for visiting fans. Creating a good footfall on many Saturdays. Allowing the sensible regeneration of Kirkgate Market, Rawson Market and John Street Market. A stadium which in addition to sport could have housed music and cultural events. Sections of the stadium under the stands could have had commercial units/select shopping/food/sports/cinema/bowling alley and health functions.
But no lets go to the hole in South Bradford, take the footfall away from the imploding/deteriorating centre, stacked with units that no one visits at all!
Lets demolish the Broadway Centre, build the stadium at the heart of the City, and sell Odsal for housing and/or warehousing/light industrial units!

    Nope.

Though I'm not against a move to a new ground per se, this isn't it.

Limiting it to 18,000 would effectively seal our fate as a L1/2 team forevermore.

The current pricing structures have allowed us to 'relatively' regularly exceeded 18k crowds in L1 in the recent past. If those structures were to remain imagine what crowds we could get in the Championship. No matter how far away that seems at this point in time!

An extra couple of miles on the trip and everyone loses their shit! Most drive anyway so I really don't see the issue. It's a good job you aren't a Coventry or Brighton supporter!

It's a good question to ask to get sme orders of magnitude but there are lots of variables here. A commercial mortgage on a specialist asset such as a football ground (which would have no other use if the club went bust) owned by a company with no other tangible assets won't attract a low interest rate such as you'd have on an easily sold property such as a house or even an office block. If a rate as low as 8% could be negotiated, the club would be doing really well and that would assume that the club would be stumping up 20 or 25% of the stadium's cost and that the loan period would be around 15 years

As an indication, a £500k annual charge would finance a motgage of around £4.5mill! And that's a long way off the cost of £50mill say for a 25,000 capacity basic stadium!

Anybody who believes we'd even get close to funding a new stadium from what we pay to the Flamingo Land Pension Fund for the annual lease on VP needs their head examining ;)

Of all the things that are likely to cement our place in L1/2 forever and a day, ‘only’ having 18k seats won’t be it.

Personally, I’d love to see a visionary, joint venture to set up a modern sports ground us to share with the bulls. Could be a fantastic catalyst for both clubs.

Whilst acknowledging it will never happen because this city is all talk and no action. I think a move there would rejuvenate this club. Taking the burden of close on 500k a year rent of our backs and the insurmountable pitch drainage problem.
Odsal is ideally situated just of the motorway ideal for handling traffic and with state of the art facilities and not as many seats to fill a more realistic price could be charged.
While of course there would be resistance from the diehards in time everyone will benefit

3 seasons in the last decade we’ve averaged over 18k so some quick maths says 46 x 3 = 138.

Then we had over 18k for the quid games against Stockport and Oxford. Plus the Cup games against Arsenal, Villa, Leeds, Sunderland and Reading. So 146 if you include the Liverpool friendly.

All that while being in leagues 1 and 2. If we have ambitions of being a championship club then it’s a stupid idea of an 18k stadium, even if we upped season tickets too £249 which I think plenty would pay for championship football plus the far bigger away followings so I think it’d have to be 25k unless we are happy to float around in the shit leagues forever.

File under 80,000 Seats, sliding roof, Wembley of the North super dome.
Having said that, VP will need some money spending to update it in the next lease period

Couldnt think of anything worse for City than moving to Odsal. Doubt I would renew ST, just the odd match for me if it were to happen, which I very much doubt anyway.

Judging by the amount of court cases recently it looks child protection has been non existent for the last twenty years.

A WOAP article based on ST sales clearly showed where our support base is, not South Bratfud, but North Bradford, where us dwellers do not venture to manky areas such as Odsal.

I dont get this notion about ease of traffic because it would be near the motorway?..How many City fans travel to home games via the motorway., not many I would say

Trying to work out your grammar - are you saying my post is a joke, or the article about moving from VP is a joke? Full stops and commas really help the reader.

Ask an Arsenal fan if they prefer The Emirates or Highbury. Ask any fan who has to go to watch their chosen team in a shared ground. It's kind of ridiculous that we're even looking down on a potential ground swap because it only has an 18k capacity. Right now we're playing in the bottom tier of the English football league. The ground we are currently at is not dragging us down. We don't need to move just yet. How many times did we sell out VP when we were in the Prem? Maybe we don't need to move at all. I don't think more car spaces and a free "park and ride" scheme are suddenly going to make us a more attractive football club. VP is more than adequate for years to come, be that in the Leagues or in the Championship.

That’s why Bradford needs someone with a bit of vision to overcome the scepticism of its population. The government is committed to investing in the north and Bradford is bidding for the Capital of culture award. A new stadium encompassing different sports with leisure and retail offerings would be a great asset to Bradford and would attract private sponsorship.

I actually don’t mind sharing a ground. It makes financial sense, for a teams at our level and with our level of support, to consider it.

...and (punctuation aside) I was not asking for immediate change. I was suggesting that the club needs to be considering if VP is the best location 5, 10, 15 years down the line. We need to be considering and reviewing options now.

Many believe that the emotional ties to VP trump all other considerations. Although I can understand that I am less inclined to this and believe that if a move is commercially beneficial it should be fully considered.

Don't be ridiculous. A sensible idea like that will never be tolerated by Bradford Council.
