So people saying Drury is a crap coach... What is that based on?

 

Stuart McCall as number 2?

 

I understand where fans are coming from as he was one of the 3 and has been here over the last 12 depressing months but like you I'd like to hear why fans think he's a bad coach.

Failed what... Coaching? You do know hes not the manager dont you?

 

HE (Dreary), has been a very focal point over the last 12 months, at least. HE couldn't change Citys direction, nor influence the players attitudes ...... ON or OFF the pitch.

Let's reverse this, OK ? What evidence is there to say he's a GOOD coach ?
I think it'll be easier to find fault, than any good !

 

I hope the club understand the importance of an assistant manager @wetherbywhaler ? And for that matter a fitness coach and a goalkeeping coach. Last year was an embarrassment in this area, we better not make the same mistake again.

 

He is a coach... He is there to coach the players. Its a very different job to Managing and a completely different relationship with the players.

 

He managed BPA. Got the sack. He went into coaching at Boston United for 3 months and they got rid of him. He then landed a role managing kids at City (which is probably his level, not a professional first team club) he then was promoted to assistant manager under Collins because of Edin's ego.
Given a 3 year contract, we can't move him on this 3 year contract because Edin blew the budget apart.
Drury then comes out saying we won't get relegated back in February, he then takes over a game and says he will coach and do it his own way, we lose 5-1.... If you can't see he's still apart of the problem then go take your head for a shake.

 

He was the manager at Avenue wasn't he?

 

He is 33 years old. Thrown in to the deep end here and at BPA. Thats not his fault. That doesnt make him a bad coach.
Regarding his comments when he took over. He was always going to say we arent getting relegated. Had he said the opposite then you would have been foaming at the mouth.
If GB is happy to have him here then what is your problem?

Yes and failed.
No offence to the guy, but he never made it as a pro. Yet he is coaching pro footballers.
I could understand if he was some kind of specialist fitness coach but he just seems like a blaggart with a chip on his shoulder.

 

If he is a good coach we should have seen a reaction when he took charge of the Pompey game. Pompey were not in great form and at least we could have put up a battle. We got served up a poor performance and 5-1 defeat.

Also none of our players have improved with him as “coach”. He’s crap. And a yes man

 

You are correct about him being thrown in far too early. You have to feel for him there and who would turn the chance down.
I dont agree on the fact that he wouldnt be repsected or that it matters he hasnt played professional football. Some of the best coaches/managers, data analysts etc have never played the game at a decent standard.
Some of the best players make terrible managers. You would think Roy Keane would instantly have the respect of his players. He didnt. His man management has been poor and its turned out that he is a better number 2/coach than he is a manager.
