Here we go again. Can’t afford a pot to piss in. A long long season ahead again.

It's worrying to say the least, we clearly had the backroom staff right during our most recent successful periods, to learn that we don't have the resources to employ a decent assistant manager sets alarm bells ringing already.

Methinks the time to REALLY start worrying will be when manager's assistant/first team coach/fitness trainer/kit man/groundsman Martin Drury tells supporters that City 'definitely won't be a non league club by this time next year'.

What must have been going through his mind I do not know
Talk about a warm welcome the poor man looked like Billy no mates
An absolute PR disaster he should have been flanked by Mr Rupp &Mr Rhodes welcoming him to the club and assuring him publicly he had made the right decision
Instead he had to introduce himself and field any questions alone

I'm not saying luck didn't play a part in the cup runs etc.
I'm not saying the club didn't have problems and clearly investment was needed off the field in terms of infrastructure.
BUT we were a debt free club with a big fanbase on the verge of the championship.
£5 million is peanuts in football terms and the club was ripe for investment to take it to the next level.
Rupp has only got himself to blame for taking his eye off the ball and trusting his mate Edin.
We lost £2m last year because his mate went on a spending spree signing over payed shite.
Just imagine if a proper manager was given the same budget.
Bear minimum we'd still be in league 1, if not higher.YungNath, The Evidence, bantam2708 and 4 others like this. -

To be honest I can't help feel like we've been stitched up a bit. Earlier sound bites about top 3 budgets, planning ahead, players willing to come here regardless of division, owner and Chief executive staying on and not abandoning us etc. Now they have our season ticket money its like we don't exist. Suddenly we can't compete for players with pub teams, backroom staff are leaving because we can't afford them and we've got feck all in terms of a structure off the pitch let alone on it.
The proposed fans forum will be interesting to say the least, especially if it comes after another summer of underwhelming and bargain bucket signings, which it seems the club are preparing us for.vladimir, BradfordBanter, Get Rid Of It and 4 others like this. -

This will give you all an interesting view of football ownership and financing.
I was speaking to a chap today at work who used to be on the board at Brentford until recently.
Brentford, decent mid table championship team I think most of us would say yet in achieving that mid table effort their owner has apparently ploughed £120m into the club in the last 5 years.
The days of sentimental fans thinking they can own a football club have waaaaay gone. Owning a football club is not a joke and is not profitable.vladimir, CT Bantam, Rogered Tart and 4 others like this. -

I hope to god this is not a sign it’s Drury only for Bowyer.
When will we learn a sound backroom team is the key to a managers success. People he can rely on and trust.
I hope it’s a sign Bowyer has someone else lined up. Will try and reserve judgement until then -
Let's reverse this, OK ? What evidence is there to say he's a GOOD coach ?

Given a 3 year contract, we can't move him on this 3 year contract because Edin blew the budget apart.
Drury then comes out saying we won't get relegated back in February, he then takes over a game and says he will coach and do it his own way, we lose 5-1.... If you can't see he's still apart of the problem then go take your head for a shake.rmbenson007, Carts #CTID, BoingBoing and 3 others like this. -
It doesn't look good on first inspection but I'm going to reserve judgement. My take on Bowyer is that he knows what he wants and expects to be adequately supported by the board.
I struggle to believe that GB would not be fully behind whatever pans out regarding his management team. I'm sure this would all have been agreed at the time he signed up.Bronco, Onside, Silverbantam and 3 others like this. -

This can only be seen as a cost cutting measure. Drury will not be on much money and has time to run on his contract.
Mcelhone and Todd have both gone and I reckon they won’t be replaced.
No announcement on Maik Taylor yet either so keepers will probably end up training themselves again next season.
One of the reasons parky was so successful was his backroom team and fitness coaches etc.rmbenson007, Stevay_b, The Evidence and 3 others like this. -

But for all Simon Parkers short comings he can only report what snippets he is being fed by the club
Our PR is absolutely atrocious and is the main reason why there is "unrest" amongst fans. It could be cleared up very quickly by the club stating and carrying out their intentions
One can only presume Todds departure was down to the club or GB would be publicly thanking him for his services and how sad he was that his "circumstances" had forced him to leave
The club appear to be toying with supporters releasing such cryptic announcements Dare I suguest that now 13000 season tickets have been sold the fans don't matter
I can understand the total ban on not releasing details of player targets but surely this doesn't apply to off field staff
Whether the club realizes it or not this is a very crucial time and they need the backing of everyone involved
Come on City let's have a bit of straight talking and keep the fans in the pictureFordy117, BoingBoing, rmbenson007 and 3 others like this. -
