Let's not be silly, there are potential buyers out there if the price is right. Unfortunately there isn't anyone that would be stupid enough as Rupp to pay what Rupp did.
Let's forget this idea that he's somehow doing us a favour being here. He isn't. This club was a league one playoff club before him and his dodgy mate turned up.
He owes us big time.

Regardless of whoever's in charge, both performances and results over the last couple of months would put any manager under pressure. The difference between the present incumbents and someone like Parkinson, is the period when the team was getting results wasn't that long and we have no evidence that shows them capable of turning these displays around and building for the future.
If T&S had some prior experience that showed that their coaching methods and team building strategies ultimately worked, but it could be a rocky road on the way to that happening. I'd be more in favour of giving them time. But from what I've seen, it's not just the results that are dire, the performances are approaching what we saw towards the end of McCall's reign. Plus, the dressing room doesn't appear to be a cohesive and positive environment to work in at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if some players are possibly questioning whether the management duo are up to the job. Which is far more toxic than it just being the supporters.
When you put all that together. I'm far from convinced that they can form a competitive squad for next season. Letting them continue and it not working out when the window's closed and the money's been spent could see the club flirting even closer to the armageddon of non-league next season if those at the top aren't careful in my opinion.meelin, Ponty City, Wakefield Bantam and 5 others like this. -
It wouldn't be a sacking really. I'd imagine they'll go back to their previous roles - they'll take with them good experience of the last 6 months, they'll have earned a few quid in the process and what we've done over the last 6 months will at least show that we're prepared to look from within to give people opportunities. They'd be disappointed, but there's a positive angle all round.

I find it staggering that we should even be having a conversation about T&S's future.
A few short months ago we were languishing at the foot of the league. Today we're still in with a shout at making the play-offs. In the time since they've taken charge they've transformed a schizophrenic team into a solid and well disciplined unit that has one of the best records in the league. By and large, they've done this by putting square pegs into square holes.
They ruthlessly got rid of the dead wood in the January transfer window and along with our new Head of Recruitment brought in some decent players. Not the basement-bucket types we've had in the last few windows.
Okay, we still might not be banging in the goals for fun and performances have fallen off from the high of a few weeks ago, but despite this, they've proved themselves by overcoming obstacles that previous, more experienced, managers have failed to solve - coming from behind in a game, bouncing back from a defeat and stopping the rot in a run of poor performances. They've also outwitted more experienced opposition managers time and again this season.
We're not the finished article, but we have a solid base to build from in the summer and with further changes in the backroom set-up (as mentioned by Ryan), coupled with our improved recruitment process, I'm genuinely optimistic about where we can go with this management team.Stop hovering to collapse... 'I thought we performed well and were the better team for long periods of the game'
Oh dear.
'We have played like we did today in the past and won matches'.
Thats true. And therein lies the problem. I think that statement is very telling....Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...How, Ponty City, Rogered Tart and 4 others like this. -
I'm not a habitual 'sack the manager' type but my patience finally snapped last night. I appreciate these guys are rookies (and didn't have a problem with them replacing Stuart) but the sight of them stood there with their arms folded in 'job done, we avoided relegation' mode made me glad I didn't have an old-fashioned TV screen. With less than half a game to save our season, it needed action. Instead we got the same inaction as recent games. except this time it really was last chance saloon, nothing less than 3 points could keep our faint chances alive. To a man/woman, the fans would have preferred to see us go for it - a 0-3 defeat would have been no worse than a draw: absolutely nothing to lose. But our attacking threat was increased by bringing on a striker in stoppage time, wowza. I care little how much of a sulker Rowe may be, we bought him (yes, bought, with money) to score goals, something he can't do when he's getting splinters in his arse.
T&S did a good job when they took over, maybe there was some luck, and to be fair I would imagine most people could have improved on the mess that Stuart had us in. To their great credit they changed the formation and found us a 'new' player in Cooke. And yes that was our best January in living memory, though in Stuart's defence he'd got Rowe as a target too. We successfully cleared out some dead wood and there's no denying we were all pleased with the incomings, though really only Cook and Canavan (and Crankshaw to a degree) improved things. Presumably much of this activity was in any case behind the scenes work rather than T&S's, which is fair enough, increasingly that's how it seems to work these days.
Truth is we were safe from relegation many weeks ago, and that is the point where things seemed to change for the worse. We could see the play-offs as a realistic hope, given we were within one win of them and the general poor standard of the league. Yet, worryingly, various post-match interviews gleaned no apparent interest in such a possibility. Again, it smacked of 'job done'. Ryan Sparks appears a well-motivated, well-balanced guy, and whilst I wouldn't want him to turn into a Rahic, presumably he too must see that T&S's refusal to consider alternative tactics (rash things like playing two strikers at home to a poor team, for example) was crippling our hopes - maybe a quiet word would have helped?
Overall City are a lower leagues club with no right to expect top-end football, and unlike a lot of the 'yoof' on social media I don't have unrealistic expectations for us, but for me the experiment has failed - the mess we're in in the bottom half of the fourth division means we're in no position to nursemaid two rookies. These guys need replacing by a proper manager, today, ideally. And although Jose (!!) or even Wilder might be beyond us, maybe a Wellens type might be the answer. In fact if available they can start today and get a feel of things for the last four games of a dead season.weewhiskydram, vladimir, King Cole and 4 others like this. -
Thinking back, what have been our best performances under T&S? I'd say:
The draw away to Crawley - purely for spirit and resilience
Winning 1-0 at home to Cambridge
The wins at Grimsby and Tranmere
The 2-0 win at Cheltenham
The 4-1 at home to FGR
The first 4 of those 6 came in the immediate aftermath of their interim appointment and before our January recruitment. Those performances COULD have been largely down to a new manager bounce and all that comes with it.
How many of our performances over the last 3 months have actually been convincing? How much of our January recruitment has really made an impact?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Briggus, Manningham bantam, Rogered Tart and 4 others like this.
