Is this why he's not suited to us - another one up top manager? Apparently likes attacking football, and doesn't think long ball is the way to go. Yes, I think you are right in thinking he's not suitable for us!

4-2-3-1 can be an attacking formation mate it's just that T & S use it has a defensive one because both clearly are defensive minded.

Attacking 4-2-3-1 is having your full backs bomb on, one of the two in midfield two pushing forward at all times. All of the 3 getting into the box and your 1 being in the centre of the box to be aimed for.

This is why Doyle was a machine for them(Swindon) He was in the centre at of the box mostly and plenty of his team mates around him in the box. Bolton are now playing him to his strengths hence they they went up.

 

Did well for Exeter, but his record elsewhere isn't that great. Seems to like going on long winless runs. Should fit in nicely with us.

Why does no-one mention Aidy Boothroyd? Local lad, works well with youngsters due to his time as the England U21 coach. Did very well at Watford. Maybe he'd like a challenge coming to us.

Hes an appaling manager still living off that one success with Watford. His performance with the u21s has been terrible in the last few tournaments and its amazing he lasted that long. A firm no.

 

Yes, you always have the players. It depends on how the manager wants you to play.

 

Agreed. It’s all very well having your fullbacks and defenders bombing up to support the attack, but then you leave big holes at the back which the opposition can exploit (ala McCall). If only this management lark was as simple as a lot of people on here think it is.

I see how you're conveniently leaving out the point about him winning the league last season and getting 25 goals out of Eoin Doyle in 29 games. The defensive, one up front bastard....

I'd be happy with Wellens. I'd also be happy with Matt Taylor. And Michael Duff has done an excellent job at Cheltenham - whether we could tempt him to come here is another matter, given they're now a league higher and he's a legend there.

 

Well, they've been relegated. Given he left them back in November, after 9 games, it seems slightly unfair to blame him for that.

Isn't that what they are all wowing about with regards Leeds United Bamford up top with a high pressing midfield and attacking full backs, as @Fordy says a common formation that can be very attacking but you have to believe in your ability.
