If we're all honest with ourselves and watched the games we should all agree that those performances simply weren't good enough and our league position would suggest the same.

Yes, luck can play a part but by and large you make your own luck in this game.

    I completely agree.

The lad has barely played any football in the last 12 months yet here we are with some posters suggesting he's the second coming that's going to transform our season.

I absolutely hope he'll hit the ground running but in reality it's more likely that he'll probably take a good 6 to 8 weeks to really get going and by then we're into the last couple of months of the season.

You have to remember that Wright did not ask to leave,Villa recalled him and sold him to Plymouth.I doubt Wright had much say in the matter.

Banks was better than Wright imo but I'd obviously still liked to have seen him stay.

    I lump it all as a “ fee” .

Some are a loan free gratis ( usually for development)
Some are pick up his wages
Some are a fee and %age of wage ranging from 10-50-100%

So yes you are right Dave, entirely possible , where this falls I have no idea, hence the term “ fee” .

Yes can’t argue .See my response to @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey . It’s usually a combination depending on the loan agreement. @Jordan@Jordan may put flesh on the bones?

Nothing I can add really. All I'd guess is that we are paying a very high amount. I'm 99.9% certain that when Wright left a year ago, the T&A said something along the lined of Plymouth blew our offer out the water for a permanent contract, which isn't surprising.

My guess is he'd had been a very good earner in L2 and at Plymouth became an average L1 earner. But, EFL contracts now will have a promotion and relegation percentage rise/drop, usually around the 20-35% depending on what that players agent negotiates. So, let's say Wright was on an average whack in L1 last season, tacking on 25% is still a low championship salary but is probably now earning a fair bit more than your average L1 player. So if we are paying a substantial amount, it's got to be way more than half as if it was say between 50-65%, WOAP would say we are covering half or in that ball park. To say 'substantial' you are talking 75-80%+ I'd guess. In other words, we are probably paying what Plymouth offered him this time last season.

Which would be a very very high L2 salary... probably where the Lewis money is going.

That’s it Jordan, an educated guess. Without knowing the deal, we have nothing else. One thing we mustn’t forget part of the deal that blew us out of the water may have been a big signing on fee.

Wright did well for us last time. Does he have the same hunger and desire? We will see.

However, I don’t like Sparks and Grant saying sign this player because he did well before. It’s like a people pleasing signing rather than the manager getting a player he really wants to be able to fit in to his team.

It’s a bit of a shambles when you think about but our team isn’t good enough, so I expect him to walk into it.

I know it didnt but the club had a full month to sort it out and look what we ended up bringing in :( rather than going all out to replace with quality we simply went out and signed a load of dross

Its lazy, because of what you highlighted - the player is known from recent personal experience. Doesn't matter if that was under a completely different manager, with completely different team mates, playing in a completely different formation. Nah..that doesn't matter. The only important part about this, is that he was "good before" and "the fans liked him". Right? Also works out quite nicely, because you know, those naughty pesky negative cynical fans are getting a bit restless due to the club not knowing its arse from its elbow, so its a great way to get them back on board, by bringing in a player they remember did well. Doesn't matter if the lad has only played three games this season, he's well liked! Absolutely will be able to pull the wool over the eyes of the fans and get them clapping again with this showboat signing for sure! (Apart from the negative cynical nasty ones).

No pressure on the lad then! The very fact you've listed eight things, two of them with the word "desperately" and three of them with the word "need" makes me wonder what happens if TW doesn't turn out to be as good as we remember. The ppor lad seems to have been made out as some sort of saviour. If he fails to get us promoted, he'll go from providing crosses, to carrying his own!

I've posted on this thread after the one you quoted. I have nothing against the player, I just don't like the lazy attitude to signing players we seem to have. And managers while we're at it. Bring back Stuart. Easy. Give the job in house. Easy. Do you think GA has ever seen TW play? Do you think he was on his radar? I don't.

Anyway! Best of luck to TW. Will he be fir enough to play on Saturday? I'm not sure about that. Will he be picked and in the squad regardless. You bet he will be!

Don’t think I have ever known a club to take their fans as a set of fools as much as ours.

Fans are restless, so let’s sign a player that did well to shut them up even though the manager has no clue. Madness!

To be fair, Captain Clueless has left the building so that isn't going to be an option, unless his young pretender has a sudden rush of blood to head.
