Wright Returns.

The 352 worked well from HT at Notts County for a while and the 343 worked well against Derby. I don't think the 5 league games without a win is down to the formation, the issues have been bad defending and poor finishing which can happen in any formation.

• Morecambe: poor defending in the 1st half and really we still could've won
• Stockport: Did well to keep top of the table quiet
• Crewe: they scored with their only chance and we didn't take ours
• Crawley: Players seem to lose their heads after we went 2-1 up
• Colchester: had the chances to go 2-0 but didn't take them

 

That is my worry, the lad is a confidence player but the way we are at the moment who knows !

 

Of course I'm guessing, I'm just offering a scenario that could be in place, as you will see I agreed with loyals comment and according to Bradford End the Wright loan will not be our last bit of business this window.
Don't you think surmising Wright's loan is expensive is also guess work and as I posted Oliver is now off the books.

I take heart in thinking, that no matter how bad we think our signings are, someone is potentially looking to sign Oliver. If GA/Rupp/Sparks manage to shift him on, then I give them a nod. If they somehow manage to find a club willing to take Osadabe, then I think I'll have to have a total overhaul of my opinion of them.

 

Some players only fit at certain clubs. Oliver hasn't been a success for us, but he's never had a run in the team, he's been injured long term and he came up against an Andy Cook that was un-droppable at the start of last season.

He's done enough in the past to suggest he will go off to a club like Stevenage and do exactly what he is capable of, which is be the battering ram that score 10 goals a season and creates the space for others to score by occupying defenders, in short exactly what James Hanson did for us.

He's not a bad player, and on paper he wasn't a bad signing. Exactly the same could have happened to Charlie Wyke with a different manager, and the fact that he turned out to be more Kurtis Guthrie/ Lee Angol than Charlie Wyke or Bobby Campbell is down to the squad he was in and the circumstances of when he was here than his ability.

He was a signing that was never gonna work under Hughes so why sign him in the first place ????

 

Not only sign a 30 year old but a 3 year contract for a 30 year old
Baffling.

 

yes I could be guessing that he is expensive, but I believe someone posted that we were paying a substantial proportion of his wages. I think my point is that unless we are 100% going to go for it this season by bringing in some more quality, then I wouldn't be spending any more money on loans. I'd rather see how we can develop the likes of Wilson. Pointon etc. Our own players

 

Looks like I'm jumping the gun by the looks of it, I thought I'd read an article saying he'd gone to Stevenage, if it hasn't happened I think it might before the window closes

 

Makes you wonder if Hughes didn't like Cook but wasn't given a reason to drop him ?

 

What an utterly negative, cynical viewpoint.

On the other hand:

- We desperately need pace in the team

- We desperately need someone with a proven goal scoring record, to take the scoring weight off Cook

- We need someone who can get us up the pitch without just hoofing it

- We need someone who can run at defenders and regularly beat them, both to lay on chances for others and create his own chances

- GA likes players who are versatile (he has successfully played for us as both left winger and left side striker and could probably fill in as left wingback at a push)

- GA likes high energy players who can keep up a high press for most of the game

- GA likes players who will track back when necessary

- We need players of a decent age with proven ability at L2 level, not some wannabe academy kids or ageing journeymen.

On every one of those metrics, Tyrell Wright fits the bill perfectly. So what’s lazy about going back for a player that we know, from recent personal experience, ticks so many of our relevant boxes?

 

He's put that pressure on himself by saying he's looking to score double figures by the end of the season, but I admire his self belief.

 

I believe at times we take too much of what fellow poster post with regards transfer dealings, I don't have a problem with Pointon getting more game time although still very young IMO he has shown enough to be in the squad on a Saturday where as I can't say the same from what I've seen of Wilson.
I don't see why a play off place is beyond us it's not a great gap between us and 7 th place so I would hope we haven't thrown the towel in.

 

Another damning indictment on the clubs so called transfer policy.

 

As much as I agree with the sentiment, a player fitting all or most of those parameters wouldn't be going out on loan. I'm happy to see another player in the building, primarily cos he's.quick, I just think some might be expecting a bit too much.

 

Playing devil's advocate but haven't we just given a 33year old a new 3 year deal .
