I'm with Simon on Parkinson being a tw#t. He went down in my estimation when we played away at Bolton. Wasn't so much the physical stick given to Cullen (our player) on the pitch, but the verbals from Parkinson were an embarrassment

I remember that vividly. Cullen was clearly in some pain when Parky leaned over him and shouted something at Cullen in a very aggressive manner. Parky went down in my estimation too after that. I was astonished when Cullen later went on loan to Bolton.

I can understand he is annoyed with losing a key player but he crossed the line which is why he is a Twit. He encouraged people to abuse a young player, infact he even encouraged other complete and utter twats to potentially physically assault him.

And if you actually watch the incident you see that Bishop has set off BEFORE it bounces as the punt forward is actually overhit so Bishop is actually the favourite to get it but it checks up on the bounce (Notice Mullins overruns it for the same reason) which maybe swings it slightly further towards Mullins.

And you say it is all about formations and fitness but if that's the case why doesn't Mullins also pull out? Why is there any tackle being made? They had already kicked lumps out of Hannibal a couple of times then and they spent the whole match kicking him anytime he was on the ball. Pre-season matches are actually just as important for some players to try and impress and also to start getting into form and the right mentality, each match should be getting more and more competitive. If you just walk through pre-season at half intensity then you most likely are not going to start the season well as you now need multiple games to get up to speed

So we'll have to disagree, but your not disagreeing for the same reasons as Simons I've replied why I believe he was correct with regards losing his main striker for possibly 8 weeks.
I remember that game but if you believe its only certain managers who identify the oppositions main threat and try to contain said player by fair means or foul then I'm surprised, you've watched professional football long enough to know the dark side of the game, I vividly remember a certain Vinnie Jones taking Steve McMahon out within the first couple of minutes of the FA Cup final verses Liverpool showing McMahon he was the gaffer.
Both Parkinson and Steve Parkin were very verbal during their time at Valley Parade let's not forget, as was Paul Jewell who got warned by a female police women at QPR for his langage and antics, have a watch what Hodges and Hughes get up to on Saturday like it or not its part and parcel of the modern game.

What nonsense you obviously still have your red & white glasses on, why wouldn't Mullin pull out "because he thought he could win the ball" which he did but failed to get it on target but Bishop came thundering OUT OF HIS BOX where unless he got there first he was going to clatter Mullin, which is very plain to see for any neutral not even giving Mullin a second thought until he realised he was badly injured, if that hadn't been a friendly Bishop would have walked without a doubt.

Then it couldn't have been a "I'll never play for you again Parkinson" confrontation, aggressive words in football who'd have thought it, nah it will never catch on.

Hey up Broncs. I haven't even seen the incident. I was just commenting that I think Parkinson is a tw#t, particularly in that Bolton game. Now obviously strength of opinion will vary from when he was our tw#t as opposed to when he moved on and became someone else's tw#t. But he's still a tw#t.

Keep this to yourself but I'd take him back tomorrow mate, and yes I know things don't always work out as we've seen in the past with both players returning and past managers returning, why am I even contemplating that when we have a bloke at the helm who been there done it etc, we should be a lot better than we were last season and Saturday let's hope Tuesday night gives us all a lift.
Here have a look at this watch the slow-mo around 20 seconds in, Bishop was never getting the ball were as Mullins won the header, red card all day long in any other game bar a pre-season friendly IMO of course.

And you clearly have a crush on the Twit as proven by the fact that others have posted about things he had done that crossed the line but you are excusing him of those as well.

My point was that you claimed 'It's a friendly why didn't he pull out' and my point is if that's the argument then why didn't Mullins? Why was it only Bishop's responsibility to give up on a ball he thought he could get. As I've said the ball if you actually watch the full video from when the ball is played forward it looks like it actually favours Bishop but it takes a bad bounce and checks up. Again this is why Mullins ends up overrunning the ball. By that point, both players are committed
and past the point of being able to pull out in real-time. Both know there is going to be a collusion and both go into protection mode, Mullins ends up elbowing Bishop in the threat.

And I'm not saying it's not a red card, in a proper match the one who gets there second is getting a red but that doesn't mean it is intentional. There is a difference though between the implication it was intentional like Parky implied and it being two pro's going for what they think is winnable but which only 1 of them can actually win it and there will almost certainly be a collision. Actually, in a proper match, I would say its Mullins getting the red as I suspect the ball wouldn't have bounced so awkwardly, it would have been yard or so closer to the area with Bishop most likely nodding it away while on the line of the box and Mullins wouldn't have overrun so would have been going in with more force and wouldn't have needed to t twist when the ball checks leaving his side exposed.

Parky didn't even try and walk it back when he saw the abuse Bishop was getting, it too Ryan to have to do that. I bet Parky wouldn't be happy if one of his young players was getting verbal abuse and threats of physical harm made against him because another manager decided to act like a Twit and when he had claimed down wouldn't walk it back

The problem is no-one is posting the full video, they are only showing the clips from the bounce so you don't see the trajectory that both of them have initially reacted to. The ball is played forward from Wrexham's half but notice how from that clip the ball is almost bouncing straight up with limited forward movement, It's taken a bad bounce which again is shown if you watch Mullins as he has actually overrun the ball because of the bad bounce. It's not like Bishop has charged out for a ball he had no chance of getting to, he is only a fraction away from getting there even after the bounce causes it to check up. If it doesn't check up he nods it away right on the edge of the box or if his starting position is a step or two further up he gets there first and Mullins fouls him.

I'm not saying in a normal match its not a red card, in a normal match whoever gets there second is getting a red due to the way things play out but Parky went over the top, he pretty much implied it was intentional and when the amount of abuse players get is a real issue when a manager stirs that abuse, especially towards a young player it's massively irresponsible. He gave people free rein to verbally abuse him and send him physical threats for an accident

I rated Parkinsons time at Valley Parade and enjoyed what he brought to Bradford City apart from that tragic day in May 1985 I don't believe our fans have ever been as close as they were under Phil Parkinson regime does that answer your question.
Now with regards what he said afterwards if he did make those comments he was wrong but i can understand it watching the antics of Bishop, we can debate it all night long the point is there was no need for Bishop to come charging out which even yourself agree in any other game it would have been a straight RED, yet you keep questioning why Mullins didn't pull out he won the ball quite clearly so he'd done what any good striker would do, sorry Simon I can't understand you logic, you're accepting in a round about way the challenge would have been a red but call Mullins out for not making the run and WINNING the ball.
As yet I not seen or heard anything from the EFL with regards his comments and bringing the game into disrepute.

    The Sky/Wrexham wank-a-thon continues.

Not content with picking their game against Wigan for live coverage, which normally wouldn’t have warranted a 2nd look,Sky sports news are now showing the misses from their game whilst only showing goals from all the other games.

And before anybody says owt,yes I am massively
jealous of all the attention they are getting and desperately wish it was us.
But it isn’t so I’ll carry on criticising.

I haven't said Bishop was wrong for charging out though. He made his move for the ball before the bounce happened, he anticipated where the ball was going to be based on the trajectory, distance and power of the pass and if it had bounced properly he would have been first to the ball as the contact point would have been about a yard or two closer to the area. In which case it would have been Mullins who clattered him as both players were committed to trying to get to the ball

My point on Mullins is you feel Bishop shouldn't have even tried to get the ball (a ball which if it had bounced correctly was in his favour) because it was friendly but you think it's fine for Mullins to show full commitment despite it being friendly. You can't have it both ways, you either have both sets of players committed and going for the 50/50 type balls or both parties back off on challenges and friendlies are made basically no contact.

There was no malice in the challenge, it was two committed players both of whom were thrown by the bad bounce but it was too late for either to fully check out. Even so, those situations will almost always cause a red to the one who gets there second even without any malice or actual dangerous play as they always look bad. But it was an accidental collision caused by a bad bounce and it actually ended up being worse because both see the contact happening, know they can't stop it happening so brace for it. In fact it's both of them bracing that causes the injury. Mullins has tried checking his run a little as he had overrun the ball due to the bounce (which also caught out the United defenders), it puts him more side-on and he puts out his arm to protect himself. It goes into Bishop's throat which pushes his body forward and Bishop had tucked his arms in as he braced which pushes his elbows forward into Mullin's now unprotected ribs. If they had actually just collided normally I suspect neither would have got an injury.

And that's the difference, if there had been something clearly deliberate designed to hurt the player then maybe it would have been fine for him to have a go (although even then it was over the line the way he did it IMHO) but when its a collision of two players going for 50/50 ball he crossed the line. If the ball hadn't take a bad bounce and Bishop had got there first before being taken out by Mullins do you think Parky would have been happy if ETH had made similar comments about Mullins leading Mullins to get abuse and death threats? Hell no

And the EFL couldn't do anything about it because it wasn't an EFL-sanctioned match. The US organisers could have but what exact power do they have?

I give up you've already agreed in any other game be it the League/FA/Carabao Cup/etc it would have been a straight red because Bishop wasn't in control that is quite clear to see in the video.
Any fair minded football fan can see it was reckless, little point in discussing it further, the incident is there for all to see, long punt forward Mullins is favourite for the ball he wins the ball (but cant get it on target) and Bishop cleans him out FACT.

He got this well wrong "The future King said Wrexham was every football fan's second club" I can't assure you they aren't son, but you know very little about football don't you support that little club in Birmingham Aston Villa.
