Yeah get where you are coming from. Can you just pay a big signing on fee to get around it? Or big appearance fees? Or a big fee to agent that gets passed onto the player? A bonus if they play so many games they get a quarter of a million etc. Sure richer clubs would find a way.

What then happens to players who take clubs over it? Do they have to renegotiate terms?

For example salary cap for our league is set at 1.8 million to use your figure. City are a million over that according to t&a. What do we do to get ours down if we have players under contract already for another season etc?

It would mean we will have no room to make changes for next season if is implemented

As I've said to others I'm not saying the PL has clubs that are the most fantastically managed business that you will see but they aren’t just throwing all the money at players. They are generally all in a constant flux of additions to the coaching staff, changes in techniques and upgrades to the Training and medical setup all with the aim of getting everything they can out of each player. They use the money they get to invest in the future not sit there demanding handouts and then waste it

But they are going to use it to sign players though. Mansfield have already talked about going hard for players. This is the perfect opportunity to actually improve the EFL and make it so we don’t have dozens of clubs on the brink every season and where they don’t need to sit there demanding hand outs every season but no the clubs and fans like you don’t want them to modernise. Without it being ring fenced any 'one off payment' doesn’t stay a one off payment and the pressure will be on the PL clubs giving more and more.

How do you know clubs “waste it”?
Lincoln built a whole new training complex with the money they got from the fa cup run last season.
Rochdale Laid a new pitch with their windfall from the cup run.
Tranmere are laying a state of the art hybrid pitch currently with extra cash from the Man U fa cup tie.

The point to all this is this is extra money these clubs did not budget for and they have used to benefit the club in the longer term. It is not wasted. How do you know every club would waste it all? It’s garbage and you can’t escape the premier league bubble

The Premier League should give more and more, before money even goes to the PL clubs.

Sure, the terms should be beneficial, but it's very short sighted for any elite league, platform or competition to not want to share it's riches.

It does not make a single jot of sense - on any conceivable level, in my view - for the PL as a body or an organisation to want to pay the vast majority of available funds to its current crop of teams alone.

That not enough money trickles down to League Two, say, is madness. The domestic divisions are NOT rivals. They are partners.

Of course we want promotion. We just don't have the level of planning, leadership and organization to achieve it. We think wishing, cheap tickets and clapping really hard will get the job done.

Even with me forgetting Mcburnie, not exactly a feeder club are we?

That's not really being a feeder club though is it? The majority of our transfers are free agents signing and then being released at the end of a contract, there's hasn't really been a lot of selling so how does that make us a feeder club?

And explain your point about City always expecting hand outs from the league?

We didn't want it in the current situation. Didn't want to roll the dice and made a poor excuse behind it.

All your other points i completely agree mate. No planning, leadership and organisation stands out massively. See David Sharpe hired as sporting director at Mansfield. Another club with a sporting director which I have been calling for at Bradford for months.

Rhodes still CEO. Sorry but I think it's utter BS that we are looking for another's CEO. What we can't find a CEO in 1.5 years?

Bradford City has no plan, no direction and going nowhere. Sad but true.

With the issues at Swindon and Cheltenham saying they cant afford testing we may yet be in the playoffs.
    Just lightening your morning Fordy.

    Thanks pal.

I want to see the club drive forward its own agenda like everyone else seems to be be doing. I would prefer Bradford and Port Vale come out and say yeah we want to be in the play offs.

Vale CEO coming out and saying I don't do 8th and get season we will do better. Well you have a chance of doing better than 8th this season but failed to take it.

Ryan for us. Our owner backs us but it would be a 500k to go in into the play offs and we might not have Wembley.

Bradford and Vale need to gain some ambition. Hopefully, both clubs will not pass on play offs again if given the chance again.

Genuinely have no idea here, given the idea of games on I follow. If playoff games are on “tv“, will there be appearance money / tv fee? If so, that would go some way to off-setting testing and other costs. Any idea @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler ?

I’m with @Fordy117@Fordy117 in that City and Vale should have pushed harder. Top 9-10 were realistically the only teams that would finish in the Top 7, and, either Stevenage or Macclesfield we’re going down. Strong leadership and some sort of extended mini-playoff / relegation games could have been an idea. Definitely needs to be relegation - unfair on Barrow or Harrogate and no chance Bolton should get away with staying up. Rant over.

What do you know - our promotion strategy of ‘waiting until its our turn’, depending on blind hope and the misfortune of others might be about to pay off!

I thought the club let the fans down by not making out that they would fight for the play offs. I thought Ryan did an extremely poor job of explaining why. I have said for years that Bradford City needs to stop acting like a charity and it acted that way last week. At least make out you want the play offs.

As for can we afford it? It's good question but unfortunately when you see what the PL has to do to get back playing and it's costing EFL championship 100k for testing but it's not just the testing cost for clubs.

Issue Bradford City and div 1 & 2 clubs have are these costs are not going to go away. So the question.. can we afford it? We will have no choice but too.

We haven’t really gone out to fight for the playoffs all season, why would be start now?
