So, the league has decided to end.

The link below gives comments from every club on the issue(mainly from the CEO but not Bradford). The link is a good read.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52689622

My fear is next season won't happen! I have just watched BCD and it works but not for league 2.

Now testing is still going to cost the same next season for clubs and social distancing will be around.

I just don't see league 2 happening next season and reading our comments on the ending of the league, I fear for our club as well and many others.

Not in it's current format unless the PL decide to fund it.....which they won't..

    So.....no.

Our league has shown good unity and they all know for the greater good as they put it this was the only sensible outcome. We simply cannot afford it without any further money coming in. The testing, wages, player bonuses etc would have been a real killer for the majority of clubs.

As for next season, it has more of a chance I think now than it did if we asked everyone to finish this season. Maybe we can renegotiate some contracts on reduced terms but for longer? We can look at some sort of bailout package hopefully. New income streams are gonna have to be looked at until crowds come back.
Cut outs of fans in seats for a fee? a payment towards an online ticket? Charge an upfront fee and throw in Some stuff from club shop, I don’t know pay 100 quid and the first 15 games to watch?
We’ve got to look at new ways to make money. It’s a shame we don’t have digital boards as we could sell a lot more of those for those who do have some money as a way to give the club some funds?

Whatever happens I think it could be a good thing with less money about. Hopefully gets away from sides just chucking money at it and looking at a better infrastructure

Non of those can come close generating the same as ticket income.

We already run at a loss and a significant one at that. Everything else being equal how can it possibly work, especially with the potential increased cost of testing?

I totally understand that which is why tv money and a bail out is key. these were just things to try generate some additional income.
will we need to test further down the line when the infection rate is a lot lower? I don’t think we will

TV money will fall for lower league clubs. If the top leagues get more air time then people will clearly watch that instead.

In terms of the infection rate. Who knows. But I don't see why it would fall over such a relatively short amount of time.

If anything I expect the infection rate to increase as more and more people understandably push for freedom.

The bail out is the only thing that will make it happen. However from everything I've seen so far the people with cash couldn't give a shit about league 2.

What is that based on? The infection rate will probably pick back up again but given time it will fall. All these type of viruses have done that in history. The more time passes and if we can get track and trace in full working order we can control it’s spread.

Were only talking about 5 months though.

The infection rate has increased without us actually doing anything so far.

Completely agree about the passage of time lessening the impact but 5 months?? Nah.

I am a bit confused. Do you think in 5 months we will not see a significant drop in infection rates? And if so why?

    Sorry for the confusion.

No, in general I don't see the levels of infections dropping. I don't see how it logically could. As more people go out and meet other people it can only increase.

Over time it will diminish (the dreaded herd immunity) but that length of time doesn't look to be 5 months at the moment.

The government has handled it poorly but we are now in a position of a 2 month lockdown and now a 3 week light lockdown. Less and less people will be infected from it. I do believe we should have gone another 3 weeks full lockdown to kill the spread but here we are. I don’t see how it can spread more than previously with zero restrictions to a position we are in now?
Steadily it will decrease and certainly in 5 months time we will see a drastic difference imo

If money is the issue for many then I don’t see it myself. If there is just 50 people in a stadium or 14,000 the bulk of the costs of putting on the game remain the same but they don’t have any income from the fans. And as mentioned TV/streaming money will be peanuts for league 2 clubs unless they do something like stagger the leagues kick off times (and ideally you wouldn’t even want all the games in the same league on at the same time) so you had less competition for viewers

Only 50% of IOW have downloaded this app in 2 weeks and we don't even know if it works.

Plus we haven't even closed the boarders as yet or done quarantine.

Arguing if about 4 year groups should go back to school.

Testing will cost the clubs approx 150k per 9 games.

Sponsors will want to pay less.

    No matchday sponsor.

    No hospitality.

I hardly doubt League 2 will be around next season. No chance.

    Hold on.

Just explain this to me. We've been in lockdown for 10 weeks, I've barely seen another soul. This has caused the infection rate to drop.

So as we all see more people going forward.....you expect the infection rate to continue to fall? How?

That doesn't make any sense. There are people out there still carrying the virus and they will bump into more people than they would have done 3 weeks ago.

To me that looks like a recipe for infections to increase not decrease?

The app has nothing to do with it. It’s a gimmick and a nice tool. Track and trace officers are key and will find and isolate cases and those who have been in Contact. That is what will get the infection rate down

As I’ve said it’s not as simple as that and we need to track and trace individuals who have it and then isolate them. So if for example you have it and are told to isolate for 2 weeks. Then your partner is and your friend because you saw him at work the day before. Who will be infected by them?

    I get track and trace.

But not everyone is getting tested. Carriers without symptoms will blow that theory out of the water in no time.

Problem is the government acted too late. We are not equipped and now trying to please everyone.

In terms of the football. The league won't come back as you have teams top and bottom complaining even after the decision has been made and look like they will benefit from yesterday's outcome.

But isn’t the theory that if they’ve got it now they are not necessarily going to infect other people after 7 days? So the two week isolation is a fail safe?
