McCann for me, but what do I know, I wanted Adams last summer!

Not sure McCann is realistic though, did he not turn us down a couple of years ago?

Even if we sign a former player as manager, ram a few square pegs into round holes, make him work with Trueman, AND promise we're going up next season?

I am very nearly with you after this latest farce mate. Really cannot believe it is Trueman groundhog day again.

    SPARKS OUT.

Think there's just going to be a small cloud of negativity over whoever comes next. We've been burned as a fanbase so many times over the last few years. I honestly don't think there's going to be a good outcome for a while until the climate off the field/backroom things change.

McCann would be the one on paper, but it's a huge come down for him. I don't know if agents of younger bosses who would be on the way up, because of Sparks. It's an inexperienced CEO who basically hasn't got one footballing decision correct in 15 months. He's now looking for his 4th management team since he came in, that cant be appealing for anyone, never mind guys like Flynn and McCann who want to build at their age. My main aim for the new boss is to figure out our clear fitness issue. It's getting embarrassing to watch an entire team of professionals look out completely done after 60/70 minutes, every week.

We can't knee jerk this thing. This season is done. We need to start planning, properly - as in a credible, long term plan - for next season.

I'd like to see us focus on someone with more modern coaching methods, with a track record of trying to play decent football and who can understand how to build a side in the image of what connects with the fans. I also think its key that we get some experience in the boardroom to help Sparks. Without that, I think any managerial appointment is moot, and we'll end up with another misguided attempt to appoint an old school gaffer in the hopes he can sort our shit out.

I wonder if we could tempt someone like Neil Warnock to come here. Either as Manager, or as a DoF type. It wouldn't faze him one bit, he wouldn't be doubted by supporters, and there's a chance he MIGHT just fancy the challenge, purely out of his 'love for the game'. Probably a long shot, but someone like that, grooming a younger coach, could be ideal.

Have we? Adams was the wrong fit. Clear as day. He'd have taken us nowhere but backwards, from this point. But, as I keep saying, he's not the main problem.

Thanks mystic meg. Can you use your anticipatory powers to tell us which manager will (1) develop a squad that is competitive in 6 months (2) show 'promise' in performances whatever the hell that is to appease the baying mob and (3) guarantee promotion in season 1, preferably before christmas?

    The question is rhetorical btw.

If my memory serves me right Warnock refused to come to us when GR came from Scarborough
    That's a long time ago
Some of the names been put forward have been linked to us before
I would not trust Sparkes to get it right this time
Mabe he might ask Ak advice

I cant see us paying to get someone in after paying off Adams. Possibly an interim until the end of the season or someone on a rolling contract. I have no idea who we bring in and id suspect Sparks will be careful about offering another 3 year contract which would make the likes of Grant McCann and Lee Johnson unrealistic. That’s just my opinion.

@Fordy117@Fordy117 what do you reckon? Klopp? Or is he shite?

Pep, Klopp, Ferguson, Jesus effing Christ - none of them would be a promotion certainty here and now.

Grant McCann would be top of my list and I know if sparks speaks to Mcanthony he would speak highly of him

I like the looks of Wild too at Halifax.

All I hope is we complete a thorough recruitment drive this time. Get this one right. See if they will work with youngsters or whatever it is we determine.

I don't think McCann or Flynn will fancy it. McCann will be able to get a job in league one if he bides his time. Flynn has built a good reputation at Newport, he had plenty of time to build his Newport side and did well at a club with relatively low expectations, would he want to risk that reputation on a club that would demand a top seven finish in his first season?
