Apart from his vile personality, he has had no success for over 10 years, don't see the appeal for this dinosaur.

I am at screaming point with the constant suggestions that we should welcome Steve Evans to our club. Forgive me but I have an aversion to perverts that a complete lack of respect for women. We are part of the fan base. If the club decide to go down that route, I will not purchase a season ticket, nor will I step foot in VP. Plus he isn’t a good manager which is why he is always available.

why are people obsessed with playing good football.

We can all suggest names for the next manager all with their pros and cons and ideas on how they'd fit in at VP. We might all have our personal preference but in a sense it's all irrelevant. Nobody knows what the owner's and CEO's plans are for the club and whether they have a long term view of what our club should look like next year, the year after and maybe in five years time. Our club needs a longer term view on the important stuff particularly, but not exclusively, on the playing front. Until we have that club-wide view on how we play, how we recruit, how we develop players, whether we intend to ever get out of this league and so on, picking a particular manager becomes pot luck and there is no guarantee that he would fit in with the owner's and CEO's (and fans'!) views on our future.
Appointing somebody who is just another sticking plaster to resolve a short term issue this season is just nonsense unless it's to gain some time whilst a more cohesive plan or vision is developed. There would of course be every likelihood we'd be in a similar position in 6 months or 12 months time looking to rebuild the latest manager's squad yet again. Unfortunately, I have little confidence in our absent, disinterested owner and inexperienced CEO ever developing anything which would resemble a proper vision for our club which would be viable .. and which fans would buy into. -

I really can’t see Sparkes being daft enough to go anywhere near that fat, odious slug Evans and his equally obnoxious and anti-football assistant Paul Raynor.
The description above is enough but primarily because they’ve not had any great success for years.
And the success from years ago was based on a very big spend at clubs.

If Evans is appointed then I for one won't be visting Valley Parade or an away game whilst he is in situ. On several grounds.
1) He is not very good and hasn't achieved a great deal over a considerable period.
2) He has been convicted of tax fraud in the past. Not a good look.
3) He and his sidekick Raynor are unpleasant characters who have a significant history of poor behaviour connected with City employees. As a matter of principle he should not be employed by the club. We should have standards.nicknameless, meelin, Craven Koppite and 9 others like this. -

I would be absolutely staggered if Sparks even considered appointing Evans.
And coming off the back of deluded Derek would make it an even more ridiculous possibility if rebuilding some unity is the primary objectivemeelin, Inspector, Craven Koppite and 8 others like this. -

If true I’d be happy with Wellens and Jewell above him, it fell apart at Swindon but only after some very dodgy dealings by their owner during a global pandemic and losing all their best players.
Give them time to create and build an identity if so.
In an ideal world Rupp would loan the club say a million Ala Lawn, then we invest in better coaching, sports science and scouting structures. All remaining funds put into a quality over quantity squad which matched said style of play, younger players who can play a high energy game with some experience sprinkled in there.
Then if Sparks came out and asked for time, asked us to be realistic say it’s a two year plan to really go for the title in year two and create a squad that can compete in league 1.
Then I think fams would have more respect for the regime and give it time to work.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...meelin, Onside, Bantam Begins and 8 others like this. -

They read out my text.
Supporters can put up with dull negative football if the team wins. It was a terrible watch and the crowds were dwindling. Season ticket renewal due soon, so I am not surprised. One of the worst things was how he threw players including youngsters like Finn Cousin-Dawson under the bus publicly for making a mistake.Bantam17, vin weasel, Bantam Begins and 7 others like this. -

The last thing Ryan wants is as yourself and many other not to renew their season tickets.
I've always said it's the players I support who pull on the Claret & Amber shirts not the owner, CEO or manager but in Evans case I'll happily make an exception.Doodle, Stafford Bantam, Briggus and 7 others like this. -
A lot to talk on Steve Evans and @borderlescott has it right on the player turnover front. If sparks is listening to Mcanthony and we have no director of football or head of recruitment to filter the signings, we will end up with 10-12 signings per window never mind season.
His best results were ten years ago and he’s not very good any more. And that’s before we look at his sketchy off the field behaviour.
If we wanted someone in to put some points on the board quickly maybe short term he could be an option but otherwise no chance longer term. Luckily this doesn’t need to be an immediate appointment.
It has to be grant McCann for me if we are listening to Mcanthony (he seems to have Sparks’ ear). Still young at 41 so will want to impress and isn’t coming for one last pay day. Plays good football. Has a recent championship winning side on his CV at hull and that’s despite a relegation the previous season which all we hear is it’s tough to come back from. He did it at a canter the first time of asking. He promotes youth to the first team. Even managed a difficult club with a dodgy owner like he did at Hull
I can’t see many drawbacks if we can persuade him to come to this levelSam Mortimer, CRASS, Two Legs and 7 others like this. -

Sparks talked up Trueman and he faced Oldham and Harrogate. Two teams that are woeful and we lost both. Let 5 goals in and scored once!

In the summer, we rightly decided that whilst Trueman had done a good job of preventing relegation last season, he wasn't ready for the role fulltime. He needs to develop and learn, and could be an option for the future. Are we now expected to believe that 8 months 'learning' under Adams, a managers who'd had to be sacked after those 8 months, has matured his development to the point of being ready...? Not for me. For once, lets get this appointment right. Trueman would be a disaster. And lets not kids ourselves, if we get this appointment wrong, we could very easily go down over the next 18 months. And that would kill this club.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Inspector, How, ModernBantam and 6 others like this.
