Following the upset and derailing of our season after the McCall debacle, I’m interested to know whether those who were staunch McCallists would want him back if the rumoured takeover were to happen. Many, as well documented felt he should’ve been given more time, some believe it was the right time to go (myself included), others believing Grayson has failed with the same bunch (plus a few more), and some that Grayson with his own squad is the best candidate out there.

If Paul Heckingbottom left his role at Leeds I would like to see him return here as Manager.

Staunch McCallist here, who believes he should have been allowed to see out his contract. Would I want him back for a third go though? Hard to say, but it might be best to just let it be now. There's still a sense of unfinished business, and I would dearly love to see him lead us up the divisions, but I would not want to see a third ultimately unsuccessful attempt at that.

Grayson? Not impressed by the attitude or the performances so far, but it's not his side, and at least he does know football.

Parkinson? Circumstances were right for him the first time around, but would it still work with new owners who are not Lawn & Rhodes?

And that leads me to the real problem here: ownership and its behaviours. What will we have? Current owners with changed behaviours, current owners with current behaviours, new owners with who knows what kind of behaviours -- at minimum two different kinds of manager would come into play.

So whether it will be new owners or the current ones with lessons learnt, Grayson could work; perhaps also someone relatively young and new, who's had success lower down and is looking to move up, might be considered. Luton's Jones would be one example of the type of manager I'd be thinking about.

I don't know who will be the next manager but he will have one hell of a task turning our fortune's round.
Club needs a big player clearout in the summer and I also think Abbott and Mason should leave their posts. On the subject of ownership the present incumbents are clueless so don't expect a big name to emerge to lead us to glory.
How's that for pre season negativeaty.

Good points @River_City_Bantam@River_City_Bantam. Lots to be decided in the coming days and weeks, both on and off the pitch. The bottom line for me is having the funds to run both sides of the business. We’re a biggish club in terms of fan base only, but don’t have a pot to pee in. Whoever is here next seasons should be given a competitive budget to spend how they see fit. The owners set the budget, the manager spends it (within reason).

Whilst I would like to opt for an up and coming manager like Ainsworth at Wycombe who has always impressed me, I think we probably need someone with more experience to turn this ship around given the huge transformation required in the summer. So whilst I’ve been far from impressed I’ll take Larry for now as the less time someone needs to get to know the club the better, which In turn will hopefully mean we do our business very early

    I have voted for Grayson.

I dont think he comes across as a manager who particularly gels with the fans. However, his record with 4 other clubs in this division demands respect, and although it may not be pretty football he offers us, he has proved he can produce the winning formula to get out of this league. We all know that he has put a list of demands to the owners to convince him to stay, so if the owners grant him enough of those wishes to stay, then I would definitely back him to mount a serious challenge next season with his own players

If, as I suspect, Grayson doesnt stick around, I would like to see a young promising manager, as Cityloyal suggests above, Ainsworth would be a very good shout in my opinion. Nathan Jones keeps getting mentioned, but I doubt we could tempt him away from Luton to be honest. Luton have the potential to go keep the wheels rolling and progress further up the pyramid, whereas Ainsworth might think he has taken Wycombe as far as possible.

Whatever happens, once again, an interesting coming few weeks on the cards. Never a dull close season at Bradford City!

The question of who should manage the team is unimportant.

Until, that is, we have sensible leadership in place at board level.

Mccall is a good manager. Grayson is a good, slightly more proven manager.

Both have been made to look distinctly average to this point.

I don't care who the manager is next season; they won't be the one on trial for me, because it's quite clear the issues are more senior.

Badly run clubs tend to perform badly. Blackpool and Sunderland were in the Prem not so long since.

I want Grayson to stay but I am pretty certain he won’t sp I would go for someone with experience of bringing young players through.

'Slightly more proven manager' is a massive understatement. 4 promotions from this league with 4 different teams suggests to me he is a much more than slightly more proven!

You've hit the nail full on it's head. Nothing more to add to the above. If it ain't right at the top, it ain't right anywhere else. Best post on this new board.

Yet Blackburn who are run by chicken basket cases, managed to get promotion, I know about their massive budget compared to the rest, but still, Mowbray and the players were able to overcome the obvious problems behind the scenes

Yeah... After getting relegated a couple of times I'm sure someone could get us promoted too.

But it would be from the National League if we follow their path.

    Still impressed?

Your original post was one sided, quoting Sunderland and Blackpool, but not Blackburn, who despite still being run by so called basket cases, have managed success this season

Grayson is a hoof old fashioned manager. Just like Parky. Great for this level nothing more. McCall style of management is more for players of a higher quality, Cant ever imagine Grayson being a national team coach. McCalls motherwell that got into the champions league was one that played attacking football through the whole team, not a parky or grayson, punt and hope.

Grayson is whats needed for Div 1 or 2, but its shit football. Parkys Bolton found that out. As did Simon Sunderland. You need technique to play in higher divisions or you just come straight back down with a smash and grab approach.

    And?

They are underachieving quite atrociously, and this season represents minimum expectations, not a glorious achievement.

Sunderland will go up next season. Same story. Barely an achievement at all in my opinion, just righting an abysmal wrong.

never, which is why think 'slightly more proven' is accurate as graysons achievements are more relevant to what we want to achieve. getting into europe with a relatively unfashionable side proves some level of skill imo.
