Doesn’t mean they haven’t learnt the lessons. I’d say the lessons they needed to learn were more about snapping up targets quicker and ensuring we have sufficient squad depth.

Yep theyll be after installing a puppet, yes man, sycophant regime so they can pull all the strings from a safe distance and heap all the blame on to when it inevitably goes tits up yet again.

 

In Abbott’s statement before he left, he had stated he had already submitted his lists to the owners.

Keeping supporters informed of ongoing improvements is welcome. I also agree that the statement put out tells us they have no desire to depart from their strategy. It will be interesting to see what candidates are willing to working as a coach to players he won’t have brought in himself. If they think it will work then they have to stick with their plan but it might not be what some fans might be wanting to hear after what has happened this season.

 

The average tenure of a manager across the FL is usually somewhere just under 1 1/2 years.

If the primary criteria for the club is "the Head Coach we appoint must have the proven ability to develop a team over a longer-term period" then there aren't going to be many existing managers who will be able to claim that they tick that box. However, there will probably be plenty of up and coming youth/academy coaches looking for a step up to a 1st team position who will pass that requirement.

They had a manager that showed he could “improve each individual player” but they fired him for dropping 3 league positions in fecking January!

 

So if they wanted a head coach... Why did they bring in Grayson? And if they still want a Head Coach why were they convincing him to sign a two year deal?!

 

They don't really mean that they want the head coach to develop the young players himself, like you say their employment will be too short for that and it's the job of the youth team coaches anyway.

I'm assuming what they really mean is that they are looking for somebody who is willing to try the youngsters out in the first team. Deep joy!!

 

Tbf It's some communication from the club. A step forward in that regard.

A subtle setting of expectations towards long term rather then promotion.

Are the lessons they’re claiming to have learned “feck the English way, managers don’t work, we want head coach German model” because they haven’t learned much at all if it is.

One of the major criticisms of Rahic was that he was hands on last season and that the man in charge didn't have more control. (Seemingly) Nothing has changed in that regard. As for snapping up targets quicker, we struggled with it in January but had absolutely no problem with doing it in pre season. The January recruits didn't improve our results even when we'd got them all in so It wasn't a major reason for our downfall last season. Squad depth is important but we'll struggle to do it operating on a similar budget to last season, which is what it is looking like at the moment. So I'm not really sure what lessons have been learnt at this stage and the fact that Rupp admitted to not knowing why we fell away after the new year shows that he doesn't even know what the mistakes are, never mind learning from them.
